Yea think about it, the autos always get the short end of everything from Ford...a good example is the auto Mach 1, it is WAY slower than the 5 spds and if I remember correctly it has less power and cant rev nearly as high, so why would ford all of a sudden start giving an auto the advatage of 3.55s without giving it to the 5spds?BTW my 5spd is at around 1800-1900 at 70MPH, and usually they give lower gears to 6s because of the lack of power to help it get up and go....Reminds me, we are changing the gears to 3.73s in my dads 00 V6, and i was wondering if anyone knows how to get the axles out of it, because we just cant seem to find what holds them in there( we already took out the C clips that hold in the third member but that didnt do anything to hold the axles in...or does it)...we changed gears quite a few times in my 66s 8 inch, and pulled the third member out of two 9 inches and changed gears in one of them, as well as calabrated both ourselves by using a thin rag (may sound funny, but an ex funny car driver/mechanic told us how to do it and it works PERFECTLY with very little slack and absolutly NO noise) but this 7.5 is TOTALLY different. Thanks

04 GT's do have 3.55's I'm looking again at work to see if it is an option and on which one if not both (auto manual) did they come in. Didn't you read the MM&FF with the comparo between the cobra, mach 1, and GT?

 yeah, MM&FF can nevar be wrong, look at my section in the mail bag where they refuted be for saying the t-3650 has issues (which we all know they do) take magizines with a grain of salt bro, they are glorified catalogs, Yes i'm a subscriber too though :(

did you take off the brakes any everything too? also, remove the little pinion shaft lock nut(i think that is what it is called) that goes through the center of the diff. it should be between the spider gears. you will see it.

Yea on one side of it, its completely tore down, even the dust cover is unbolted LOL.Thanks I will try that, but its raining or was raining so I will have to go out later or maybe tomorrow.I appreciate the help.

Did you say shifting at 5200rpm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If so thats your problem. Your bogging like hell after every single shift - dropping into the no power range down in the 3ks!! You should be shifting an auto at about 6k (long gears with tendency to bog bad). My car hits about 6300 peak rpm on the shifts.

04 GT's do come from the factory with 3:55 (anniversary pkg/auto's). I have a friend at a dealership that told me this plus I read it in mmff magazine a few issues ago when they raced a mach-1 and cobra...

Ferga: its seems kinda slow even at that altittude. I suggest raising the shift points to 5800 rpms, put the silencer back on. And launch from idle giving it a full throttle stab. Put your tires at the recommended pressure (30-32 psi).

Luck
