I had my 01 dyno'ed a couple of months ago and something doesn't seem right. It was done on a mustang dyno with all of the mods listed in my sig except for the WMS upper intake tube. Given that mustang dyno's have about a 10% difference from dyno jets that would bring up my car to about 271hp and if there is about a 15-20% difference from the flywheel to the wheels than this would put my car at about 325hp at the fly. Am I missing something or is my car lacking some serious hp ??? The guy doing the dyno has dyno'ed many mustangs so I'm not worried about that. The car sat for a couple of hours before going on the dyno and temperature that day was fairly cool. I also had a baseline dyno done last year with no mods whatsoever and it dyno'ed at 236rwhp and about 245rwtq, again on a mustang dyno. This seemed low but the guys doing that dyno didn't seem to know what the hell they were doing so I'm not sure if it was my car or if it had anything to do with them.

seems kinda low to me. i posted last week just after i got my baseline dyno done on my 97. my car has 94k on it and all i have is catless h pipe, k n air filter and 80mm mass air. my car put down 269rwhp/274 torque. that was on a dynojet. wasnt there a recall on 01 cobras or something???? has it been done to your car??? i dont know a ton about it but i know there was one

YES, there is something wrong with your car. 99/01 cobra's dyno between 275-285 RWHP BONE stock. 99 cobra had a huge infamous recall because the ywere not making the advertised power, and they all get "the FIX". I'm not sure if it filtered over to the 01's or jot, but it seems like it could have in your case.

Stock 99/01 cobra's actually make about 340 hp at the crank when running normally.(ford underrated them, as with about all cobras ever made) Figure 17% driveline loss using what they always dyno at Your cobra is dynoing what a gt would, take it to the dealership IMO

Guys, he ran on a Mustang dyno. Take it to the track to see if it's running right. The dyno game is all about numbers on different dynojets. If it's running strong (as in it feels strong), there probably isn't anything wrong with it.

:stupid: mustang dyno's run quite a bit lower then dynojets. And don't forget 4.10's will cost you 3-5 hp on a dyno.

Well my track #'s are definately not good or at least where I'd like them to be. I have only had 3 runs with all of the mods I have and the best time I could squeeze out was a 13.9 @100.3mph. Bone stock my best time was a 14.2 and this was pushing it. I would consider myself a decent driver at the track and altitude might have a bit to do with the times. Based on my peak #'s I'm shifting at about 5400-5600rpms which I thought was low but not according to the graphs. Realistically I think the car has the capability of running 13.5-13.7 with the current mods. Traction is a bit of an issue with the hop but I have learned to work with it the best I can.

Yeah, that's true they can dyno low, but his times make me suspicious still.
A 14.2 at 100? a cobra of his year should trap 104-105 bone stock, and run 13.5-13.6 on street tires. He's running bone stock gt speeds.... I dunno ,sounds like he has a problem to me.

Bone stock on my 01 was a 14.1.. after exhaust 3.73s, pullies, springs and cold air intake... 13.20s.... or maybe i'm a bad driver :rlaugh:

uhhhh You're probly correct on the bad driver part. I have personally taken two 99 cobras down the 1/4th. It had a short throw shifter, and eibach pro-kit which actually hurts launches..street tires 13.5@105 with a 2.1 60'

Second, BONE stock 99 cobra, on f1's ran another 13.69 @104 with 2.2 60'

THis was with powershifting....not trying to be a dick, but to think that a 340 horsepower mustang cobra runs low 14's is foolish. I thought it was pretty common knowledge that cobra run mid-high 13's. **** even 5.0 magazine got a 99 cobra to run 13.6, stock :rlaugh:

Shifting exactly at peak horsepower/torque is absolutely killing your times. You want to put your RPMs up high enough so when you drop it into the next gear, it will lose the least amount of HP between RPMs. Hard to explain, but trust me - wind it out to 6,500 and post your 1/4 mile times. Try it at 6,800 and 7,000 and see which one gives you the best MPHl; don't worry about traction just yet. Once you get the hang of shifting it, practice your launch and welcome to mid-13's.

The car isn't the problem, it's a misinterpretation of the dyno and a bit of driver error. Try racing someone and shift around 5400 RPMs.

On a second look, why didn't they run your engine to redline? That sudden drop off in power is most likely the dyno operator letting his foot off the throttle.

i agree with shifting @ about shifting in the high 6k dont worry about the dyno read out... take from people who know how to run the cobra. About the launch.... i launch well i do it at about 4500 to 5000 but i dont have the IRS and I run 12:9s.
