Ok question, and I dont even know if anyone would know where to look, but I wanted to know the STOCK weight of a 98 gt convertible. I dont know where to go to weigh my stang, and I cant find the stock weight info anywhere on the web. If anyone knows the answer, please post it, I would really appreciate it, or if you know where I could find this info, do tell, cause I am kinda curious. Thanks a lot.

You could weigh it at a truck stop. Our local city dump also has a scale that you have to run across before and after a dump, I'm sure most of them do.

Major highways have weigh stations where you can get weighed. Drag strips do as well.

Sand, stone, and gravel are sold by weight. Take a box of donuts to a nearby yard and ask if you can drive on their scale. Don't expect the results to be too precise, they are accustomed to 20-40 ton loads, not 1.5 tons.

GVWR and GAWR are not the vehicle weight. Those figures are for gross vehicle weight (what the car plus passengers and cargo can weigh) and what the weight distribution over each axle is allowed to be respectively.

My registration card states 3150 lbs that is close I think. If thats was with passengers and cargo the car must weigh about 2600 lbs unloaded.

Call around to some race car set up shops. The scales they use will not only give you total weight, but front, rear, and cross weights and percentages . I have a set for our race car, but it may be a long trip if you are not in Seattle.

Hmmm..you're probably right. I weighed my 03 GT at FFW in gainesville and it weighed 3400 lbs with me in it. I weigh about 225 lbs. So...that's 3175 lbs for just the car. 1/8th tank of gas, no spare/jack, but full interior (seats, etc).

Strange, but my vehicle registration simply lists the weight under the heading "EW" at 3317. There is a field for GVWR, but it is blank. According to the NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Admin), the term curb weight or curbside weight refers to the weight of a vehicle with full gas/coolant (minus passengers and/or load).

A 1998 GT Convertible lists at 3400 lb curb weight. My 2003 GT Coupe lists at 3317 lb curb weight.
