78 was the 1st year they started calling it the 5.0.mustang2 said:What about the 5.0 on the hood scoop. Did the king's say that. I did'nt think the liter displacement came about until in the 80's.
Yep, The King was the 1st to get the 5.0 badging, not the foxes, another fun thing to bring up when the FOX guys start bashingmustang2 said:What about the 5.0 on the hood scoop. Did the king's say that. I did'nt think the liter displacement came about until in the 80's.

You learn something new every day.stangii said:Actually, 1974 was the first year that Ford converted completely to metric for the engines. 1975 was technically the first 5.0 but it wasn't shown on the exterior of the Mustang until 1978.
So the 5.0 predates the fox-body by 4 years.
Keep an eye on the prices, they have recently started going higher, Actually I'm glad to see it go at a price approching that of some of the classics, it shows some respect for our forgotten poinies. personally I think whoever the buyer was ended up with a steal at that price considering what he's getting. It's a beautiful car.innocentfool said:holy smokes!! 15,000!! do you think the car is worth it? i mean, the car is beautiful and low original miles. but the prices for IIs were never really high. dont get me wrong, i would not sell my king for 50,000 it has too much value to me.

Johan said:Anybody check out the bid history? The previous bid was $11,100 - by the same guy. He outbid himself by almost 4 grand.
