The interior...

I wouldn't spend too much time debating that -- power is not an option, it's standard. ALL Mustangs will have A/C, AM/FM CD, cruise control, power windows, power locks, etc. It's cheaper for Ford to do that than engineer and offer manual windows & locks for a tiny minority of customers that would go for it.

I rag on it all the time, but only because I actually like it....but...will the '05 have the "classic" pull-knob light switch?

Nope, it's got a twist knob know, typical of other Ford vehicles. You can see it in this picture: http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timeline/05/05/25.jpg

I actually kinda liked the pull knob myself, it is brutally simple, kinda like the rest of the car. If they ever put the headlight control on a stalk, I'll kick 'em in the nuts! :rlaugh: Gadgets can be fun sometimes, but I actually like the basic stuff -- manual A/C, for example, is all I ever want. Auto climate control always pisses me off because it's hard to use, and I'm finicky about what temperature I want it to be... :)

Thanks for the pic.

Yea...it's going ot start getting confusing with all the gadgets and what nots and where goes coming out in new cars. Like the Consoles where it's basically a stationary "mouse" that controls radio, navigation, phone, radio/music, and all that other crap. THAT won't cause too many accidents.

You're not the only one who doesn't care for the interior.

I'm hoping it grows on me, beacuse I love the exterior, but the interior makes me want to puke.

eeep, well get yourself some pepto and keep waiting I guess
It's strange that there are such *widely* differening opinions about the interior, as well as the exterior. I have a feeling that once we all see it in person we wil have more respect for the new stang and the things we saw as disgusting might work really well from a new perspective (lol the 'in person' perspective)

LOL!!! I'm right there with you! But why stop there? Who needs those pesky power door locks, when leaning and contorting across the car to pull up the knob and eventually breaking the console from leaning over it is so much fun? Really takes me back to the good ole days.... And that fancy schmancy Mach stereo thingy has gotta go, please offer an AM-only radio with a tin-can dash speaker. Power mirrors? It would be so much more retro and cool to revert to the old manual passenger side mirror that always vibrated out of adjustment, so you could lean over every other day 5 or 6 tries to get it tuned in, and again, break the console doing it. Lastly, I'd like to have no ignition switch, and a crank handle sticking out the front bumper to start the car with, and a brass horn bolted to the outside of my door with a big squishy rubber bellows that goes "AHH-OOO-GAAAA" when I squeeze it! (Sorry tac3242004, but your severe nostalgia got me off on a tangent I couldn't resist. Crank windows??? Man, I wouldn't go back to those days any more than I would relocate the $hitter in my house to the backyard, or install manual lever pumps at all my sinks for well water).

Yeah... You could get rid of the power steering and brakes too. Or for the ultimate retro, you could cut the floor panels out and go Flinstone style.

Don't know if this is true or not, but I heard or read somewhere the twist knob replaced the pull knob because of "extra positions" they needed in the switch itself for the color changing dash. I doubt that's the case as I would assume that is part of the "System Information System".

On another note: wether you like the interior or not, you have to admit that the fact that you can change the color of the dash to one of 125 colors is pretty freakin' cool! Talk about the ultimate in customization and personalization. For the record: I love the exterior; I'm iffy on the interior. I love the dash and the retro gauges. The door panels bug me to no end.

You actually admit to liking the 125 color changeable dash lights? We may have to revoke your rights to talk about stangs. j/k :D Seems like that was one of the first things most people were complaining about.

What's to complain about? It's kind of a hokey feature, but it is somewhat neat, unnecessary, but neat  Whats the huge problem with being able to change the colour of something at you whim? :D

No but if we could get the admins to make custom titles for each troll. Then we'd know who to ignore. And who to actually discuss things with. :D

Right. I'd be Custom Troll since I want IRS and a manumatic.

Seriously, about the the lights. Years ago I had an old BMW 3 series that had backlit red dash lights. They were great at night. I wouldn't bother with the other 124 colors, except to play with, but what a great choice.

Is pink one of them? :jester:

Interior Lights

I kinda like the idea of selecting a dash light color, the problem I have with it is that I've read that Ford cheaped out and is making only the gauge lights
change and not the center stack or the power window/door lock switches.
I suppose they will remain "Ford green".

I was hoping all interior lights would adjust, so I could get the sort of cool red/blue combo standard in VWs throughout the cabin. Much easier on the eyes at night, and a more updated look as well.

Just my $.02

I suspect it wasn't Ford's decision -- they did not specifically design in the changeable gauge colors, it was offered up by Delphi. So unless Delphi is making the lighting for the rest of the interior and offered the option to Ford, you can't really blame Ford. Delphi does the radio too, I don't know if they offered Ford the changeable color on that or not -- probably not, because the gauges change color with three LED's, to put 125 different colors on the radio would require entirely different technology (and much more expensive at that).

I never knew mustangs had window switch and dock lock lights :D i must have got a raw deal too.

Me too... I NEVER saw that.. at least, from the factory. I like the fact that you can change the dash color. I'd prefer, for example, if I had blue stang with gray interior, to make the lights blue or white instead of the standard orange and green.

Window/Door Lock Lights

My last 'Stang was a '79, so I just assumed that more recent Mustangs had window/door lock switch lights like the larger Fords have had for years.

I should know by now never to assume...
