i live in NY and am installing a S-trim vortech to my 2000 gt. once installed i need to get it tuned by some on local. Mustang majic or turbo people? Turbo people is much closer and similar in price, but they said that they will street tune the car instead of dyno tune it, then burn a chip for me. mustang maajic will ldyno tune then flash my computer or burn a chip. anyone know anything about 'street tuning?'

Street tuning is far more effective than dyno tuning, dyno tuning is usually only looking for performance #'s, where street tuing, you'll be able to have the car run nice and smooth etc and tune to the most power safely in the real world, I street tuned my car, then took it too the dyno and made some tuning changes to increase power and the car ran good on the dyno, as soon as i took it on the street it blew a head gassket

I've never dealt with either place or know any1 who has for your application ie chip etc. I have dealt with Job Jr. from turbo people on a standalone system and it was a good experience

Good Luck

thanks for the help. 'street tuning' sounded pretty sketchy when they first told me about it. do you think it is safe to drive the car 1/2 hour away to get it tuned or should i have it tuned? i have a feeling it might run rich since i am useing 42# injectors instead of 30.

MM can tune/burn/flash a car...they did it for me on a previous car...and i was very happy

TURBO PEOPLE are also an amazing company and can tune a supercharged golf cart into the 9's...they are cutting edge and shouldnt be brushed off at all

Does the car drive ok, or does it stall and puff black smoke etc?Do you have have the matching 42lb calibrated MAF?

Personally, I think a combo of street tuning and dyno is the best. Dyno for WOT runs and street driving datalogging air/fuel and fuel trims is ideal. Street tuning is usless unles your gonna datalog fuel trims along with the air/fuel ratio. For WOT runs I don't believe that runnig on the street is that much better. As long as your MAF transfer function is dialed in correctly then if they command 12.0 it should be 12.0 air/fuel. I would personally have my car strapped to the dyno than have some guy taking WOT runs in my car on the street.

Street- part throttle tuning
Dyno -WOT tuning. Dyno can also be used for part throttle also.

i hope it runs ok, but its not done yet. I have heard many head-gasket horror stories that happen when you drive after a supercharger install. the 80mm mass air is calibrated for the injectors, but i dont know if that is too big for a 2v? the kit vortech sells for my application comes wiith 30lb injectores not 42. Am i just being paranoid?

I have been at MM when turbo People were there using their dyno on race cars. You can't go wrong either way. The choice is yours. Keep in mind, you sign a waiver before it's put on the dyno. Make sure everything is connected to specs. Nothing worse than snap, crackle, pop. Good Luck.

they make you sign a waiver?? thats pretty sketchy. actually its smart for them i guess. hey, i just posted a new thread but i'll ask you guys anyway. i have a 96-98 cobra S-trim blower that i want to put on my 2000 GT. do you know if this will work? i heard something about reverse rotation? but im not sure if it will affect me or not.

Every place makes you sign a waiver. You wouldn't imagine the pieces of junk that people put together at home and are totally put together wrong and want to run on a dyno. I've signed waivers at every shop I've ever dyno'd at.

This may be a slightly late post....but here goes anyway...

I don't know much about Mustang Magic, but Turbo People have tuned some very well known drag and street/strips cars over the years and can definately be trusted. If they suggest tuning a street car off the dyno, i'd personally go with what they suggest.

Let us know how everything works out!

thanks for the response.... i am having some problems with my S-trim install so I keep pushing my appointments back....i plan on visiting Turbo People in 2 weeks or so, so I will definatly let you guys know how they did!
