I am considering a supercharger for my 99 cobra. I was wanting some input on what to get and mostly who should install something like this? I was wondering about computer tuning also, ive heard the timing has to be retarded. Any info would greatly help my decision.

depends on what you want. if you want a daily driver and will take it to the track a few times a month or something, you can stay N/A or get a centri blower. If you're a hardcore racer, get either a BIG centri blower or a roots style.

If you're like me and want to road race the car, keep it N/A, put on bolt on's, bore and stroke it, and have fun!

First off....Solid Snake, GREAT avatar!!!! :D

As for supercharging your 99 Cobra, here's what you will need most likely:
1. Supercharger of course. On your stock block I wouldn't recommend anything over 11 lbs of boost. After cooler is optional, if you have the money. Although some tuners aren't big fans of them. Basically it cools the inlet charge keeping it a little safter, depending on the tune.
2. Bigger injectors, MAF, and fuel pump.
3. TUNE. You need a custom tune depending on what octane gas you can get and plan to run. I was tuned on 94 octane gas.

I like the Vortech, but that's because that's what I have. The S-trim will put you at about 12-13 lbs of boost with the stock pulley's. You could always spin it slower to keep boost levels at a safter level. There's also the SC trim which would put you at around 10 lbs boost....you could pulley it later to spin it faster for more boost.

I was at 13 lbs of boost, safe tune at 13 degrees timing and a/f under 11 on the high end. Motor lasted about 7,000 miles....ended up blowing the piston rings. Forged rebiuld in the works. :nice:
