Well, im starting to get around to modding the cobra finally. Started last night by simply pulling the silencer off the intake housing. The cars definitly louder, and the blower seems louder as well. I took it for a drive, and it did actually seem slightly faster. This is SOTP feel. Well, i look down at the boost gauge, and before pulling the silencer, it would seemingly pull about 8 psi. The needle wouldnt quite make it to the end of the bracketed in area. (the notch before where "10" is on the guage). Now, when i romp on it, the needle goes to the end of the bracket. to me it appears as if im pulling another psi according to the gauge.. :) I dont know if its at all possible to gain a psi by pulling the silencer, but the guage defintily reads more psi then before. anyways, what do the average 03 cobras push out stock psi wise? 8 or 9? anyways, im going to drop in a K&N, and add a magnapack catback. Should be another nice kick in the shorts.

silver snake ill have to take the cobra out on a cool night and see if i can peg it at 10. btw, whats the hood mod? (is it the same as the blanket mod?) ive heard of both, but have no idea what either of them are.

Blanket mod/Hood mod, same thing.

As for the snorkle debate.... I've read two varrying positions on whether removing the snorkle has any added benefits. There was even a dyno comparison done with a drop-in K&N in the stock airbox. With the snorkle attached it made 5 RWHP MORE than with the snorkel removed. Of course that's on a dyno where the car is stationary. Results may be different on the road with more airflow.

haha agreed, it is definitly louder. I know with my bullitt i noticed a difference, so i figured i would try it out. The sound of the blower is worth it. I figure im going to drop in a K&N and call it good on the intake side. Now i need a pully, some bassani headers, bassani mid pipe, and some magnapacks...that should make it plenty loud and plenty fast.. :)

I think that's a mistake! A CAI will make significantly more HP compared to just a drop in K&N. You would be losing out on one of the best "bang-for-the-buck-mods" available for our car. Plus if you get a drop in now (about $30-$40) you won't be able to re-use it in a CAI if you decide to get one later. The filters that come with the CAI's are much larger than the drop in K&N.

well if thats the case, then ill be getting a K&N FIPK! ive been hearing conflicitng info on some forums. some say the difference between a removed snorkel and a K&N drop in is minimal compared to a full intake. Also some people have said the K&N FIPK caused their cobra's A/F to become messed up. im not going with a chip yet, so i need to keep the A/F safe and correct. When i get an intake, it'll be the K&N FIPK, i just wanna make sure i keep the car running safe.
