I took my 5.0 to get it saftey inspected and it failed :(

The reasons why it failed: misaligned headlights, my brand new breaks and shoes they claim "aren't good" and becuase I have no cats. How in the world can they fail you in saftey for an emissions thing?

That sucks. But I thought when I lived in Virginia, I never actually had to do emissions. So maybe that's why they check for cats in the safety check.

Are they failing the brakes because of the pads and shoes or because of the rotors? Yes, they do have to check for cats in the safety inspection and that's because some counties don't have emissions testing.

I love it now that I've moved to Maryland, safety inspection when you buy the car and free emission testing every couple years (okay maybe having to do emission kind of sucks, but it's better than the safety inspection scams!)

How are you getting free emissions checks. I've had to pay for all mine.

The headlights are minor, the brakes sound like a scam (hate to say it, but some shops will hit people with stuff like that if they think they are not educated on cars), and yes, pretty much everywhere will fail you if you don't have cats. Just another way to get mo' money out of your pockets. Sorry to hear about that.
