Supercharge without Boost/Fuel Press Gauges?

Is it safe to supercharge a car without the gauges? I can afford the charger and install from Tim but the gauges might be streaching my budget a bit if I had to replace the tires. I wanted to keep some cash in the bank for some deep dish bullitts and wide rears as my stockers are about smoked and a S/C would more then certainly finish them off. I've gotta supercharge it soon as summer is wasting away and winter=no no for supercharger in Erie.

So if you have a supercharger what do you think is more important?
A good set of wide rear rubber? or Gauges to keep an eye on the safety of the engine?

if you get a professional tune, you could hold off on the guages but i would not forget to buy them. Grippy Tires are very important especially when HP is increased, but gauges are the best way to monitor what is going on inside of your engine

you should get the gauges IMO. if you get a drop in fuel pressure, you could blow the engine. better safe than sorry.

Gauges.. because if something goes wrong and you cant see it, you'll be spending a LOT more on a new engine

Umm the price of wheels/tires is a lot more then gauges.

Mechanical Boost Gauge 60
Electric Fuel Pressure Gauge 180
2 Gauge A-Pillar 50.


No doubt you should get the gauges, but you should also have enough money to just buy some good tires to stick on your wheels for right now.

gauges were a must in my situation since I see full boost at 2400rpm. If I get into boost below 3K it can be dangerous if the car starts detonating so I watch it carefully.

Anyways, chalk another one up for guages.

Also, summer is wasting away QUICKLY, why not just save up this summer and get it done over the winter and work on your car a lot? Then have a new beast next summer rather then half assing it.

Right now I still drive it in the winter w/ studded snows so if I don't get it on now its not going on til next spring in case I crack in up knock on wood. The weather doesn't get bad until late november save a couple small snowfalls.

I talked to Tim and said my driveability wouldn't change with a cent. because it wouldn't build boost unless I go WOT so I'll probably play it by year to see if i need a beater or not.

If I don't get it now I'll probably load up on other things (Interior Upgrade Headrests, DD Bullitts w/ Nitros or DS-G3's, Plenum/TB, and a Bullitt Fuel Door). Pretty much I just want to do something decicive so that I'm not tormented with the decision of getting a 03 Cobra, 05 GT or S/Cing mine. S/Cing mine is they only option that won't involve payments as mines paid off. I just love that throw you back in your seat feeling when the charger kicks in
