I have read a lot of threads on exhaust and it seems a few people are worried about their car being too loud. I don't care if my car is loud as long as i gain more power. I don't have to pass emissions but i don't want turndowns or straight pipes w/no mufflers. I was thinking MAC LT's to a shorty prochamber hooked to a borla stinger cat back system on an 01 GT. Could i pick up 20 RWHP with this setup or is that asking too much. Would this reduce the backpressure too much on my stock engine and cause problems? My engine is stock except for a K&N w/the snorkel removed. I am planning on adding an upper intake and 70mm TB soon too. I know this setup will be loud and i hope it is. The strip in town sounds like a lawnmower festival with all the ricer pipes. Thanks to anyone who helps. Oh yeah, I already tried mustangexhaust.com but they don't give you power info just sound. Thanks.

First of all, i suggest NOT to get Borla. They are extreamly quite, and you -will- hate it. I have also herd that they give a poor increase in HP and TQ.

I would get the MAC LTs, Prochamber is good, and a Flowmaster American Thunder. Sounds badass, and gives a nice increase in HP and great for more mods downt he road.

If you really want your car to sound bad ass, Mac Flowpath catback. HOLY ****. People will think you are above 400 horse with those.
Long tubes+ProChamber+flowpaths=wet pants.

oopps

I got this off the Ford news website. Is the muffler in the Mach 1 different than that on the 2003 GT?

"In a modern engineering twist, 2001 Mustang Bullitt GT engineers tuned the car's 265-horsepower engine and exhaust sounds to Steve McQueen's legendary co-star. This engine sound was duplicated on the 2003 Mustang Mach 1, another limited-edition performance derivative with magical Mustang history"

Yep, I'm with BAFMustangGT on this one - If you like the traditional, classic or whatever-you-want-to-call-it Ford V-8 sound, go with FlowMaster. The American Thunder Catback is very popular. With LTs and a prochamber it will sound awesome. A 20 RWHP increase (as you hoped for) is likely. :nice:

01GT281 - Well, to go against the flow of the thread, I'll have to suggest you reconsider looking at the Borlas. However, you really need to go and listen to them in person. Cat-backs/Exhaust will give you more opinions then you'll know what to do with . . . but when you hear'em in person, you'll know if that's what you want.

The Borla Stingers average 20 HP/ 25 ft lbs Torque - but that's their stats. I personally never had a dyno before & after, so I don't know how much I picked up.

In addition, I also really liked the Magna's and the Flows. I know a lot of people talk bad about Flows, but a couple my close friends have them on their cars and they sound awesome.

Believe me man, you'll be much happier knowing your getting something you've heard in person. Heck, you may even end up being one of those "Bassani Guys" :)

Good luck.
