Here is how I look at it...

Lets say I'm racing a 99+ Gt and he puts a bumper on me to 100mph...I deal with it...I don't go automatically pulling my headlight out, spare tire and jack, back seat, passenger seat, and then VACUUM...to beat the guy (or girl)...I just let it be...and put a bit more money into it to get him (or her)...

Why not prepare your car like a race car at the track?...because its not a race car...

I dont' want to tell that exampled 99+ Gt to wait and pull over while I strip my car so I can beat it...

Would you drive down the street like that? Probably not. I believe that you should run your car at the strip, in the exact same way you run it down the street. That means no shorts, belts bags of ice on the intake, or taking the headlight out of the car (which BTW looks like total $ h ! t). This kind of thing ranks right up there with pulling the passenger seat out of the car to save what, a half a tenth? If you want a real race car, build a real race car. Otherwise run your car the same as you run it on the street. Besides the number you run has no street credit. Sure you ran a 13.57, but can you run that at anytime of the day, or do you have to spend 40 minutes preping the car to run that number?

i can't build a race car since i don't have the income. i'll race however i want, thanks

take the headlight out

No, I GET the point of the mod. I just don't see the hassle being worth all the work. I, personally, don't see why anyone would waste the time pulling a headlight. You could be making a pass in that time.

The next trend will be cutting heat by taking your hood off the car to get more cool air in there.

takes 20 seconds to take the headlight out. that includes taking off your seatbelt, getting out of the car, and lifting the hood.

i go to the track at 5pm, tech opens then and racing starts at 6pm. plenty o time to take out the headlight and pee too.

\ :bang: you are so not getting it. When i go to the track i dont go to race other people, i go to get the best ET out of MY car...i dont give a **** what the 99+GT runs. And think about it...what makes a racecar a race car? Its, light (stripped) and not street legal. When you take your car to the track, why shouldnt you strip it?

Damn dumbass do you just not get it? You don't go to the drag strip to race people, you go to the drag strip to get the best possible time. Maybe you go to the track with a full tank of gas, windows rolled down, 150lbs of weight lifting weights in your back seat and your 230lb girlfriend, but most smart people go with half a tank of gas or less, clean out there car before they go, check the tire pressure, and prep their car to what they feel will give them the best possible ET without going overboard (taking out the back seats at the track). The people that go to the track and don't check their tire pressure, let their car run the whole time they are waiting in line, and whatever else you will don't take drag racing seriously. More than likely they are out there to just see what its like and don't care one way or the other what time they get.

Im skinny...is that an unfair advantage? should i fatten up before i go to the track to be fair to the 99+? :rlaugh:

If you're racing against a '99+ in a '96-'98, becoming anorexic would be more advantageous than gaining weight
