Ever use supercharger on stock block before?

I need to stay out of these threads. I've had my stock AOD for just over 4 months now and needless to say I wish it had a little more power. I already have plans for a shift kit and 3.55/3.73 gear down the line. Like you said, I don't want to touch the engine since I've gone that route (with no complaints I might add. lol). I've considered nitrous but that was before I could out-right afford a supercharger. :D I wonder how the stock aod tranny would hold up though. I would love to slap a small KB blower (along with the other mods mentioned) on this thing.

Do KB blowers have that whine though? Not exactly stealthy. lol It's cool and all but I know I'd get tired of it real fast.

I installed a 6lb powerdyne kit on my bone stock 5.0 about 8 months back, it ran great, idled like stock, and the gas mileage stayed the same. Although at the time I was running the stock 19lb and stock fuel pump. Since I have upgraded the kit to a 9lb along with 30lb injectors, 190lph pump, and a free flowing exhaust. Even after this the car runs nearly stock...just a little lopey idle at times. I think I need to get a custom chip burned so it runs like stock again.

Doiley,

A small blower can be bolted on with no other mods and will work fine. Please don't by a Powerdyne. I don't mean to offend anybody but they're really not in the same league as a vortech or paxton. I know that they are self contained and all that BS but they are not that reliable...go through belts all the time. Some people have good luck with them but not many. I've had a BD10 and BD11A and was not impressed with either. They are not worth the money.

Doiley, you are thinking of the roots blower with the crappy efficiency and hot air. The screw blowers run as efficient or slightly more efficient than a centri blower, just FYI.

Hey Ill, what whine are you talking about? The screw blowers have zero whine while idling or driving normally. They whine at WOT. The centri blowers are the opposite, whine at idle and go away once you are not idleing. My paxton is pretty quiet and very livable though. Thats one of the reasons I went with it. The Vortechs are just obnoxious. I dont see how people live with them.

lol You'll have to excuse me, I've seen one too many 03 Cobra videos (some with KB, some with stock blowers) where dudes are screaming along at WOT, so I was generalizing a bit. Thanks for the heads up though because that was basically something I wondered about.

get a shift kit with your tranny. dont know if you saw what i said earlier but my buddy that had his if you romp it from a stop the tranny basically feathers it in second for a second or two before shifting to third. and soon2beblown you dont need 30lb injectors for a stock motor with a charger. stock injectors are reccomended not to sound like a smartass.

Actually if you read his setup he is running 9 PSI. It would be very unwise to run 9 PSI and not upgrade your injectors. Lets do a little math real quick. 19lb injectors = 12:1 FMU. 9*12 = 108. 108 + base fuel pressure (well say 35 psi) = 143 psi fuel pressure  Even if you could run 143 PSI with any fuel pump you can buy (which you cant) I cringe at the thought of 143 PSI running through your stock fuel lines, fuel rail and injectors. To me it is asking to blow the car up, literally. With the 30#ers he can ditch that FMU altogether which results in better daily drivablity, better gas mileage, and a very reasonable maximum fuel pressure of 49-50 PSI. Upgrading injectors is recommended even if you are running 6 PSI, but not necessary.

Take a look at the chart on the Pro M website. Notice, fuel requirements for N/A motors and forced induction motors are entirely different. Superchargers require more fuel.

For 6 psi, yes you need only a bigger intank fuel pump. 30 lb injectors are recommended like I said, but not necessary. I am running just fine with 6psi and a 8:1 FMU, but then again, my car came with 24lb injectors stock. I cannot say how a 19lb injector car with the 12:1 FMU would run with 6 psi. I assume it would run perfectly fine because the bigger FMU will compensate for the smaller injector. But if you plan on tuning the car on a dyno, you want a large enough injector that you will not require an FMU. Thats why its recommended, for tuning purposes.
