The side mirrors on my 89GT are faded pretty badly, along with the black metal around the window rubber/weatherstripping. Would the correct color
to repaint this be semi-gloss, flat black, chassis black, etc...????

I always thought that a satin finish was somewhere in between gloss and flat, but the universal black is just that. I did find out though, after repairing a rust patch on the upper black door trim, that the Duplicolor black primer matches the semi-faded trim that already exists fairly well. After it was dry I shined it up with my shirt and it blended in pretty unnoticeably. I think eventually I'll get around to painting my mirrors and all the rest of my trim, but so far I've only done my faded wipers and cowl with the universal black, and it looks really slick.

I had success with a product made by Plastikote: Semi-gloss black flexible bumper and trim paint. I used it all around my car's mouldings, around headlights(4-eye), door frame, and mirrors. Sprayed about 2 good coats and it came out pretty good and has lasted over a year including a blizzard.

I repainted all my moldings around tha car in a flat black bumper paint made by duplicolor then added a couple coats of clear over that... makes it look really great... also, you mothers back-to-black for all tha trim, mirrors, door and window moldings, etc... does a GREAT job
