Yes, same with me. With my tri-ax installed, I can hear my tranny whine when its quiet. I am really glad of this post though, because i was starting to worry that the whining was not normal and something bad was about to happen :nonono: . But i guess all is well, and i agree with him, i am upgrading my exhaust. :stupid:

Yeah, they are pretty noisy. I have the same thing. Got a tri-ax plus the mgw handle but it's still pretty noisy at low speeds.
I ordered one of those gaskets. Still need to install it, it's too hot to work on the car now.

Mine is noisy too. I just tried something similar to the shane.roberts link above by putting rubber washers inbetween the shifter handle and the post. It didn't really help, so I'm going to order the cobrabob gaskets today. I have a feeling that a lot of the noise is coming in through the base of the shifter so these gaskets should help. I'll let you guys know how it works.

I tried to install cobrabob's gaskets last night, but I was unable to install the base gasket because there appears to be some kind of glue, sealant, or gasket maker at the base of the shifter. I couldn't get it off. Anyway, I did use the other gaskets that came with the kit (to go between the handle and the shifter mount). They helped some, but still noise. Finally, I wrapped the whole shifter with many layers of tightly bound flame-retardant electrical tape. This helped quite a bit also. At least it doesn't sound like my tranny is about to jump out of the floorboard now.... Here's a pic:

Putting most any buffer material in between the plates works - I used a 2" x 3/4" strip of dynamat, but felt works, as does any rubber (like a slice of innertube). You need some kind of buffer in between the base and shift lever or you will get the tranny whine telegraphing up through the shifter. The "problem" (if you are one that views it that way) of tranny noise after installation of the Tri-Ax has been asked by so many people that it just seems odd that Steeda doesn't put a slice of buffer material in the bag with the other parts for use at the owner's option...
