I was thinking about buying a mac straight shot. Let me know your experiences with it, installing and gains. Also did you buy the kit with the mac 85mm air meter or did you but the cheaper one that uses stock air meter? Lets see some pictures too!

I have the Straight Shot on my '04 and it has the 85mm MAF b/c that's the only version they had when I got mine. I think I was one of the first on this site, not sure though so I don't want to get anyone angry. I don't know the exact power gains of it, but you can definatly feel it and I gained 2-3 mph in the 1/4. (The time in my sig is without any mods that was only with the X-pipe btw). I'll go take a pic now for you and post it up in about 5 mins.

Here's a couple of pics I took today. Sorry the engine bay is so dirty, I have not had time to clean it.

sorry, you didnt gain 2-3 mph with a cai. i personally think that the thing performs like junk and is only for looks

I wonder if the fender mounted cai's are better. I have looked at the mac straight shot and now I am looking at the upr cai that goes into the fender well. Any opinions?

fender well ones will make you run rich. reason being is it changes the velocity & amount air hitting the maf, which changes everything & makes you run rich

I think I was one of the first people to get it back in May. I like it a lot. It looks great (although I wonder what the best way to clean is... i need it shinY)

As far as powergains, hard to tell, because I dynoed my car with a few other modifications. I gained about 60hp with this kit, catback, xpipe, headers, and some other small modifications. I should have had them dyno it after each install, (hahahah).

How are you going to tell me that I didn't gain the 2-3 mph? I respect you a lot Jackie Chan, but come on.

The install wasn't hard, just everything fits extremely tight. This makes it difficult, but not hard. It just takes some time. Good piece though I love it.
Im sorry, its been proven a million times over. if you gained 2-3 mph, thats like 20+ hp. maybe with a blower you could see gains approaching that, but a cai on a stock 2v is just about worthless. your gains were probably from weather conditions and different driving(shift points, traction and so on)
