What tire size?

Just bought some new 18inch wheels, but no tires yet. Wondering if I should stay with a 40 series tire or do I need to go down to a 35 series tire?

How wide? On my wife's 18x9" we run 275x35. 40 May be a bit tall unless it's a narrow tire like 245.

18x9.5 and 18x9

I am running 265/35 -18 in front and 285/35 -18 in the rear with no clearance problems whatsoever. My wheels are Cobra R's 18X9.5. Some guys are running as wide as 315's in the rear but watch for suspension clearance.

I chose the 285/35 because they have the same (or very close) revs per mile as the stock size. I didn't want speedo issues.
