Another whats it worth thread (am I crazy??)

Well, I have to sell the 69 stang so I can pay off my new GT and go to school. I really really dont want to but this is the only way I will get my career going. Anyways, I was looking for 69-70 stang values in TX and here are some autotrader ads that I thought were CRAZY.. are they worth a ton all of a sudden??

Thats just about all I can think of... I might get it painted depending on what my friends brother can paint it for. Everyone says paint can really raise the value of the car so if I get a good deal it will be painted. Anyways, Im lookin for a starting point to get it up and for sale.

This is terrible!!! Tim, I know you've put a ton of work in the car, so why not keep it and sell the late model??? Certainly the '69 will hold it's value better, and with the EFI, it's probably darn near as reliable as the late model. Have you considered student loans for school? I took student loans to pay for school, and between mine and my wife's, we could've bought a new Ford GT (GT40 mind you, not a Mustang GT). I'm not kidding. Still, the rate on a Federal Stafford loan is the lowest it has ever been! It's something like 2.65% for the life of the loan. You try to find any other loan of any kind with a fixed rate that low...

However, if you need the cash, I understand... I'd guess, if you got a decent paint job on it, you'd probably be able to get low to mid teens for the car from the right buyer.

I have to let her go.. I got the interior back in today and it felt like old times again, back when I was 16.

My parents are paying for school, but we still have to take out loans. Baylor is $20k a year and my parents cant take over my car payments ($450 a month) and therefore it has to be payed off before school starts (January).. I just cant risk keeping the 69 as a daily if it breaks down, Im screwed or I would just sell the new stang. I ahve to move to school and chances of finding a job with 18,000 kids in a small town is gonna be impossible.

I was hoping to get around $7k the way it is and if I get it painted, around $10k or so.. I should find out soon how much the paint job will cost. Im pretty sure it will be under $1k so it should be beneficial.

Your Grande sounds like a real nice car, but at least around here the coupes are not the easiest cars to get top dollar for - you will definitely have to find the right buyer. Ever think about keeping the 69, selling the GT, paying it off and driving somthing a bit more inexpensive to get you through the college years? Its been a while since my college days, but I would be very paranoid about keeping a nice new GT on a college campus - theft, vandalism etc. are all to common these days, particularly with a desireable car like you GT.

id sell the late model and keep the 69. so what if it breaks down, the things are EASY to fix. Atleast your driving will be short, Im taking my 67 with me to school 3 hours away.

My car was a daily driver through high school and half of college, until I got an additional car. Once you graduate college, a 04 GT is going to be easy to find and a 69 Grande will be hard.

I would regret selling my car...

Sell the 69. Hell, sell the bike too. You've changed your mind countless times on the 69 and each time the plans get bigger and more expensive. Get rid of that thing and wait until you get your life setup to have a crazy ambitious project.

I agree keep the 69. so much easier to work on and so much more inexpensive to fix.. well in my case any ways. but in yours i donno. but id keep the 69. sell the new gt

Sell 'em all ('69, GT, bike) and get you a couple of beaters for about a grand. I bought a '94 LHS with 140k and burnt clearcoat for $50 that had a broken timing belt and they don't bend valves, so $200 later and $300 to get the title and tag (sitting for a year). I've put about 35k on it and a set of front tires and it runs like a champ and gets about 22 in town and 28 on the highway. You can pick up nice ones from old people with better paint and less miles than mine for $1500 and they were $30k cars when new.

I recently bought an '89 Isuzu Amigo with 165k and no rag top for $300 and all I had to fix was a busted exhaust stud on it. Cost me right at $100 for a new tag and title transfer. A new aftermarket top will run me about $250 shipped. The clear coat is burnt on it too, but its 2wd with the stock aluminum wheels and 31x10.5s on it and looks really cool and has only minor dings and never wrecked. My soon to be 12 year old daughter wants to drive it to school when she gets old enough so we'll get MAACO to throw a paint job on it. We'll rhino line the whole floor to get rid of the carpet, do a clutch job on it (all factory now), put a new set of tires (only second set on it now) and do a complete brake job and I'll fab up a new exhaust for it and it'll look like new. I might end up with $2k in it but probably less and isuzu motors run forever.

I know I know.. Im so undecisive (sp?) but I have to sell something. I have a $18,000 debt in my name as of now and have to have it paid off by the end of December. The bike is going for sure (still owe on it but im looking for a take over payemnts type thing) and one of the stangs will go bye bye for sure.

The 69 does not have air conditioning and is gonna suck on these hot days. The new stang is expensive but if I sell all the old stang stuff I can pay it off. The other option is sell the new stang and get a beater (probably a dodge diesel truck) and keep the 69 around my parents place and cruise it on weekends and holidays. Right now Im selling all the stuff off the new GT (wheels, hood, front bumper, springs, wing) and going back to stock.. Hoping to get about $3k back to help pay off my debt. We will see what I end up with. I guess its gonna end up being what car I can sell first.
