theres been a ton of threads on this subject so you might want to try the search function.

pretty much the prevailing thoughts are:

3.73's for a 5 speed with a poweradder
4.10's for an auto with a poweradder
4.10's for a N/A 5 speed
4.30's for an auto N/A

I've got 3.73's,and love 'em.No regrets.Great on highway,great to bomb around town,and pretty respectable on gas :D.
I've also been in "damien2003gt" with 4.10,and man ... you feel it! :)
They are both great gears.
I know if i were more into drag racing,i would go for the 4.10's.

yea i should search...but im lazy. somebody was telling me if i got 4.10s id be rolling at real high rpms on the highway (like 5k+) so i was just wanting advice on that...my b for bringing the subject up for the millionth time

LMFAO....dude if you get anything less than 4.10's I'll beat you w something that I don't currently have handy! I've had both 4.10's and 4.30's and really like the .30's the best. Drove about 50 miles on the hwy today at 75-80 (when passing obviously) and was very comfortable..

5K+ on the highway? that should have dramatic effect on mpg

I've got 4.10's and they're great, i think i would have been dissapointed with 3.73's. On the highway, i rev at about 2500 or something i think going about 110km/h, which is about 65mph i think. Gas mileage hasn't changed, because around town you can rev the same you would normally rev, but you will just be in a higher gear at the same speed.

Go with the 4.10 :nice:

I was gonna start a new thread but I might as well join into this one. I am really curious to know what kind of time diffrence there would be 1/4 mile between these three gears in a basically stock 03 GT 5spd.

My current best stock 3.27 14.1

3.73 ???

4.10 ???

Just an educated guess is good enough for me :)

I have the 3.73 with no regrets, rpm's are not that bad on the freeway. Going with a 4.10 gear only adds maybe 200 rpm's at the same speed versus a 3.73. ALOT of people like the 4.10's.

Could someone post a link to a gear calc. I am not at home.

Here is a link - Use this and check out what different rpm's are at diff speeds w/diff gears. :nice: Thanks to GinoGT who posted this in a thread I found using a SEARCH :D

I have a 5spd and 4.10 is just right and I drive 70mph down the highway 5+ days a week! Go with 4.10's and you will thank us when you do. It's like bolting on 50+ HP! I can start in second now and it pulls almost like 1st with 3.27's.

True anything is a improvement over stock. But in my opinion I will be getting 4.10s. A buddy of mine has 4.10s and drives 140 miles round trip to work. From hearing that and driving his car I totally made up mine for the 4.10s. I believe it is a great daily driver gear.

I was scheduled to have my 4.10s installed on Monday, but the shop called me and said an "opening" came up for Friday (tomorrow) ...so I went ahead and reprogrammed my speedometer for the new gear ratio this morning. Seems like I have the lower geared (wide 2.84) automatic transmission because I was running right at 1950 RPMs at 65 coming to work today, but now after a short drive it looks like I'll be running 2000 RPM's at 55mph.

:nice:
