Pulleys? Anyone with good or bad experiences?

I've heard horror stories about belts slipping off when putting underdrive pulleys. Is this true? I do a lot of traveling in my stang and don't want to be caught stranded in the middle of nowhere just for adding a few horses. Please share some experiences.

Nothing bad to say about mine. Just follow the directions and torque procedures. MAKE SURE you put some RTV in the crankshaft keyway, don't tighten the install bolt(Steeda) to tight and you'll be all set.

I had a broken belt but I don't think it had anything to do with the pullies. I've had them on for over 2 years and that is the only real problem I've had. I'm not real happy with the way my car heats up now. With 114,000 miles now (I drive 30,000 a year) I'm tempted to take them off so it doesn't get so hot. It really gets bad now that it is summer and I have to run the AC. THat being said, I just recently flushed my radiator and added a can of water wetter along with a new thermostat and it seems to have helped. I'm going to run it for a few more weeks to see if that has taken care of most of my problem.

My advice is spend a few extra bucks and buy a under drive kit thas replaces the stock dampener. Do not buy a "piggyback" style kit. they have the reputation of causing the stock harmonic balancer to wobble, this cant be good for the engine. I have the Steeda underdrive kit and would recommend them :nice:

i keep extra belts, and a breaker bar with the right size socket in my trunk. Had a belt break on me once. I'll be ready next time.

I have had mine on for over a year and no problems whatsoever.I put them on in about 30 minutes, and installation wasn't bad at all.I would recommend getting the Steeda u/ds, it's worth the extra money. :nice:
couldn't of said it better monkey. On the side note i don't know about paying the extra cost but i got mine for free :D

Lesson Learned!!!

I bought the cheaper piggy-back style pulleys. Hear it is about a week of running time on the pulleys and i look under the hood only to see one of the alignment screws just henging out of the hole. The other two are completely gone. I was already pissed about that when i noticed that the bolt holding everything to the crank was also back out quite a bit!!!!! I was at a friend house so i tightened the crank bolt back up as much as i could and drove home. Going to have to check things out in the morning to see what i'm gonna have to do to get it right. In the mean time i think i'll order up a set of steeda UDP's tonight.

Had Steeda's for a year...nothing but a pleasure..added power, no problems. I was expecting the worst...but nothing negative ever happened. Never overheated,no light dimming issues. Have them professionally installed.Get them! You will like them.(Steeda's)
