all that have 180* t-stats...

the conjecture was that the ECT would keep you in open loop (on foxes, the threshold is supposed to be 178*).

ive read that even this may not be accurate. some have said that once the O2's heat up enough to light off (somewhere around 500*F, i think), they get the puter into closed loop nonetheless (a la LT1's in camaros, which come with a 180 stat and guys run 160's all the time with just a fan temp mod). im just posting info and conjecture for people to toss around.
FWIW, fox guys run 180's all the time, and some run 160 (or even restrictors, on the street. not the best idea). i know you guys have a more finicky puter though.

my two cents. good luck.

They probably unplugged the ECT sensor when they put theirs in! :rlaugh:

Fan crapped the bed shortly after. Not saying that's what did it but it might have put that extra strain to cool things that my stock fan couldn't handle. On the flip side I got off my lazy butt and actually installed the Flex-a-Lite :D

Is the flex-a-lite better than the stock fan?

i had a 180 stat, but now i'm running a 160stat. i've yet to have any problems and i don't expect any now since its been in since april.

except for the fact that your car is always in constant cool down mode and never reaches proper operational temps.

Our cars run best between 180-200, where the temps were ment to be.
