Anyone here with fuel injected 5.0?

The T5 fit is very good but be aware that different crossmembers are used for different conversions. Two ways to skin the same cat.

If you use the late model bell housing, then use the W-F or ModernDriveLine crossmember. This works for trannys installed vertically.

If you use the early bell housing (toploader) and adapter plate (CPC) then use the CPC crossmember. This works for trannys installed that can't towards the driver.

The C4 yoke fits but may be too worn for use with the T5. If the C4 yoke has wear grooves at the rear seal you can bet its too far gone for use with the t5 which uses Dexron-Mercon hydraulic fluid rather than gear oil. If worn, you're better off using a new yoke.

The shifter handle may be any performance shifter but if looks are important to you then nothing looks as classic as the look-a-like aftermarket shifter and early '65 chrome eschutcheon/boot. NPD carries these parts. The chrome escutcheon may be hard to get from time to time. The '66 will make do but doesn't compare with the early '65 for plain good looks. Depends on what you want...go or show.

Other stuff:

Clutches.

Early 157 bell housing and 10.5" clutch assembly (HiPo) works fine for up to 300 hp. '69-'73 351w (164 tooth, 11" clutch) works better for engines above 300 hp. Late model bell housing is best with cable clutch linkage and is a 157 tooth assembly. Early flywheels mount three-finger pressure plates. Late flywheels mount diaphragm pressure plates. Aftermarket flywheels often mount both types. As a general rule, if you use late model parts, stick with late model clutch parts. If you use early parts and an adapter plate, stick with early model parts.

geegee, that infromation is very helpful to me. Thank you.

But, I have a question. Can I not use the stock 1994 clutch it has in it now?

Yes, but know that the fork in the late model engine pulls towards the front of the engine to disengage the clutch. The linkage in the early car pushes the fork towards the rear of the car. To make it work, you have to:

a. Use a cable clutch kit for early Mustangs. OR

b. Use the early fork with a fulcrum adapter. To install this means removing the bell housing for rework. Mounting the early bell housing pivot block (needs a spacer under it). Note that the early fork boot will not fit into the late bell housing very well. Note that the late fork boot will not work with the early fork. Yes, you can jury rig one of them to work (kind of). Windsor-Fox and others sell the modified bell housing for about $400 or you can do it yourself. Windsor-Fox also sells the spacer you need for about $50. The spacer is just a hunk of metal with two holes drilled in it to match up with the early pivot. Also note that the late engine does not have a clutch linkage pivot on it for the z-bar (equalizer bar). On the late engine a adapter is used that holds the pivot. This part is made by Windsor-Fox and California Pony Cars. NPD has this part in their catalog. Its about $70. Tell me which approach you want to use and I will tell you exactly what you need. With the late engine and bell housing you'll need to choose between these two options:

a. Cable clutch linkage kit.
b. Stock clutch linkage.

GeeGee, will this clutch cable work if I wanted to use the stock clutch?

For $260 it better do something fancy! lol

Yes, thats an example of the item used to convert early clutch pedal to late clutch box. Note that all the z-bar clutch linkage except the pedal itself is discarded in favor of a late model cable. As Ronstang says, there are others. I make no recommendation regarding which cable kit is best. ModernDriveLine has a good reputation. Mustang Steve has a good reputation...etc.

Speed Demon....if you want I have the wiring schematic printouts for 94 Mustangs from Mitchell on Demand and these are what I used to madify/design my harness. Looking through them many times teaches you how these EFI systems work and really help alot. They can be a little confusing and hard to read at times but they are the best resource I have found. E-mail me or IM me....AIM is Ronstang1966 and Yahoo IM is the same....and give me your address and sometime this week I will copy them and mail them to you if you like.
