300rwhp from a 99-04 GT, what's it take?

Just curious what it takes to get 300 rear wheel horsepower from a 1999-2004 standard Mustang GT?

Is it possible WITHOUT having to add a blower or supercharger?

Also, would like to know if it is possible with the stock block? Don't want to change pistons, put a stroker kit in, or anything else radical. Can you get heads, or headwork, with new cams, larger TB, Mass Air, Injectors, Exchaust, Intake, etc... to accomplish the HP goal?

Thanks in advance for comments. :spot:

From what I understand, it is possible, but difficult to obtain. This is what you need, from how I understand it:

Full Length Headers, Mid-Pipe, cat-back, TB, Pullies, T/A, Bullitt Intake, Modified Air Intake (Either a CAI or at least trimmed Silencer), cams, and one hell of a good tune.

There are some people on this board that have done it... I'm sure they have a more accurate list... but that is the way I understand it.

Yes it is definately more expensive than just buying say, a supercharger, but its instant on power ( unless of course you want to just go ahead and get the KB blower) and probably wont fry your shortblock like a supercharger will. If it were me, id prolly have to go with the supercharger first, but I dunno, ill never put that kinda money into my daily driven GT anyway.

I think your right, it appears that a KenneBell 9psi Supercharger would be the way to go. The 4.6L engine itself just doesn't seem to hold the promise of an older 5.0L engine without big $$$ currently.

Anyone know a good place to get KenneBell pricing?

Uhhh, the Mach 1 Mustang is only 305hp at the flywheel, not the rear wheels. A Mach 1 or NA Cobra gets about 255-265rwhp
I meant it would cost less in mods to get the Mach to 300RWHP than a GT. There is a guy on mac1.org that has welded in mufflers, SLP X, K&N, and an elect. water pump that pulled 292RWHP and 311RWTQ.

My car:

Accufab TB $175
C&L upper $185
Steeda CAI $190
Steeda U/D pulleys $150
Headers $300
X-pipe $150
Catback $310
Cams/Springs $700
Tune $600

So far its taken about $2760 to get to 290rwhp. I will admit that for the $600 I paid for the tune, it sucks. I really feel there is more in the car and do to the way it runs, I am going to get a SCT tune next spring. I'm hoping to get really lucky. Automatic Weapon or Starkie ended up with 301rwhp without touching the heads but that car has to be a bit of a freak.

If nothing else, I think a better intake would put me over the edge. I'm holding out to see how the PURPLEMUSTANG intake turns out. If it makes power and the pricing is as originally stated ($700-$800ish), then I will probably go for that.

It doesn't really take *too* much. With your money applied properly, it can be had for less than most people would think.

I was sitting at 260rwhp before adding my T/A(16deg), now I have pullies on the way and a set of VT stage 1 cams coming shortly. With a tune, I don't see any reason why I can't break 300rwhp and I haven't exactly spent a ton on the car. I'll still have stock heads, stock exhaust manifolds and my stock cat back. There's a bit more left to do in the bolt on department but, I didn't think it was needed quite yet.

do tell  i haven't heard of a "purplemustang" intake coming out  i need more info :D

Everyone keeps talking about putting a KB in. I drove one the other day and got nothing but tire spin. Don't get me wrong they were street tires with a tread wear of 300 but I don't think that a set of DR's would even cotrol it. Now I'm sure there is a certain way to control the throttle but I couldn't figure it out ( I only got to play with it for 20min). Oh well, I'll just stick with the vortech.

OK. I don't know the whole story, but it originated on the Corral or Modular Depot. A member that lives in Turkey (again, I don't know the whole story) drives a purple GT, hence the name. The same individual has developed two different intakes. One was pretty wild looking, but got scrapped due to manufacturing costs and overall complexity. The new one look very similar to the stock intake, but is aluminum and can be ported, etc. It accepts all of our existing upper bits (TB and upper plenum) and linkage. There is another member by the name of Tarzan (from the US) who has recieved the first copy of the intake. He is supposed to install and dyno the intake, but IIRC he blew his car up or something.

Here are some threads on it:

Looks promising to me:shrug: And, they will have a Group Buy for it once it is dynoed and they get them produced.

Enjoy :nice:

thanks Nick :nice: i'm going to follow this very, very closely from now on :D i was thinking aobut the p-51 but i dont really like the looks, or the price of it, i'm glad there is finally something else to at least have a few options (or at least it looks that way)
