Has anyone heard the term "Gear Roll Over"

Does anyone know what this is?

When I am in 2nd between 1500-2000rpm I hear this wierd clashing type sound... once I get over 1900 rpm it goes away.. if I accelerate between that RPM range really slowly I won't hear it... But if I give it a bit of gas you can. The dealer told me that is gear roll over and is very common with the 3650. I am just curious if it is true or just BS?

Thanks,

I can take a stab at it, though I don't know for sure...

I've heard that if you over shift, as in push the stick too "deep" into a gear it can grind your synchros (or gear forgot which), that's why there are stop screws on the shifter base. Is that what he's talking about?

I get this noise too, Im going in soon to have the TSB for the tremec done and figured it was the "clashing" noise in the TSB.

That and/or the driveshaft specs from Ford have too much slack as Ive read recently in another post.

Did you have the TBS work done to your tranny ?

Yes it does sound like a grinding noise. Mine is in 2nd between 1500-2000rpm and if I give it a bit of gas. This article that was posted above has some good insight on what possible is the problem. The dealer told me that Ford currently has no fix for this problem, but they have seen other mustangs with this same issue... I guess it is time to start another thread going to try and get another TSB in the works.
