ok im gonna end up buying one of these two midpipes and hook it up with the original 40 series flows. now, these two more or less run for like 150 so i will chose one of these based on sound and power gains. im sure both are waay better than the crappy factory h, but does the mustangtuning x produce that much more than the mac h? does the mac sound better than the x? are these two around the same in loudness? im on a tight budget, since im entering college so help me chose wisely. :nice:

i like the sound of the h better, deeper than the x. but if you are gonna go with a mac o/r h pipe then i suggest the prochamber, more hp that a traditional h and i love the sound, its also gonna be quieter than either of the other two. good luck

I just posted my video and I have flowmasters and a MAC O/R H-pipe so if you want to hear that just go look at my video. O/R H-pipe = more low end torque, O/R X-pipe = more high end horsepower. O/R H-pipe will be deeper like muscle car sound, O/R X-pipe will be more high pitched raspy nascar like sound. Most people who go for perfomance go for the X-pipe most people who go for sound go for the H-pipe. So it really just depends on what you want more.

I have the mustangtuning o/r xpipe w/ 40 series flows. It sounds soooo bad ass!!! it is loud as hell and has no rasp. i get nothing but compliments about the sound and volume of my exhaust. theres a vid of my car's exhaust floating around somewhere on the boards.....just do a search for mustangtuning xpipe or something and see if u can find it. If not, PM me and i can email it to you later tonight when i am out of work. :nice:

Performance wise, i definelty felt a SOTP gain. It is easier to spin the tires and pulls much stronger in the higher RPMs :nice:

Go with the H.

I've read several times that X-pipe with chambered mufflers produces a bad sound. Bad sound as in a negative. Not good. Ugly. Not pleasing.

reading someones personal opinion and hearing it in person are two completely different things. chambered mufflers sound awesome when paired up w/ the right xpipe. bassani xpipes and bbk xpipes for example do not sound too good w/ chambered mufflers....i.e. raspy. mustangtuning.com xpipe, UPR xpipe and VRS xpipe, and DR. Gas xpipes sound aggresive and extremely well w/ chambered mufflers.

if you want to do an hpipe w/ flows, the Prochamber is the way to go

Regarding Mustangtuning.com.................
they are going through growing pains right now. They have had such a tremendous increase in sales lately due to their great service and good prices.

That is very true. Hearing somebody opinion and hearing it in person is completely different. Even hearing it online can sometimes lead to misconceptions you gotta hear it in real life for you to know how good it really is. I've never heard flows with any of those X-pipes you listed it sound good with I'll have to check them out sometime. As far as prochambers go I'm gonna have to disagree there. Just my own personal opinion its to quiet for me and not enough of a muscle car sound. Personally I like the MAC O/R H-pipe better than the Prochamber, but hey I know alot of people who do like the prochamber and everybody is entitled to there own opinion. I've heard magnaflow X-pipe with Flows and it sounds like crap.

well, power-wise, how much more can i expect from the mustangtuning x vs the mac h? annybody have some sort of dino? ive hear streetstang's setup and its sick, and i heard sick96's and it too sounds badass. im not sure, but obviously i want power as well. maybe this will ultimately determine my choice.

H-pipe = more low end torque, X-pipe = more high end horsepower. Either way you go your gonna get performance gains. Most people who buy exhaust for the performance go for the X-pipe most people who buy for sound go for the H-pipe. I havent heard streetstangs setup but if you think it sounds good and it has an X-pipe I would go for that becuase the performance gains will probably be better. With my O/R H-pipe I could definetely feel it pull harder at the low end torque but it also felt stronger up top so I was very satisfied with my O/R H-pipe.

I had the Uncatted Bassani X pipe on my Car and absolutely hated it. When the car is idle and in the low RPM's it sounds sweet as hell. Real deep, but when you get your RPM's higher and shift it is sound raspy that I couldn't stand it. I just bought a MAC ProChamber and absolutely love it. The sound of the H Pipe is much better, and i'll sacrifice some performance from the X pipe for a better sound quality. Go with the ProChamber dude. $209 off ebay with free S & H. :nice:

Hey guys, its Chris from MustangTuning, (I'm using Petes name to login and post). If you ever have any problems getting a prompt reply (you really shouldn't though, our new guy Bob is really on top of things, I've been looking over his shoulder all day), just email me directly [email protected].

I'll take care of any issues, I'm a stand up guy trying to run a legit business. The last thing I want to do is leave any customers with a sour taste in their mouth.

Also, in regards to the question at hand, you are really just comparing X versus H, which is a topic of large debate. An H pipe is supposed to have a slightly better sound (This seems to be just general rumor), and an X is supposed to have slightly better performance gains (also, general rumor I believe). It doesn't matter which way you go honestly though, as long as you get rid of the factory cats, you are good =)

Streetstang, your car does sound sick  that's a great combo IMO

Was back and forth on MustangTuning-X vs H-Pipe. Decided to go with the H-Pipe (MAC ProChamber) just like that lower more old school sound. I think both sound great. I will try to post a vid when it gets installed. :nice:
