Question about PI Stallion Converter

I made up my mind that my next mod is going to be a PI Stallion 9.5" 2,800 stall converter. Precision industries returned my call and recommended the above mentioned stall to me.

I told him that my car is all stock with the exception of 3.73's, x-pipe and catback and that I planned on supercharging eventually.

He said that as of now ,the converter would stall to 2,600 and 2,800 when I get the supercharger.

My question is, would it stall to 2,600 on the foot brake, or only with a trans brake? :shrug: Also, does a .3 to .5 tenths drop in ET sound right with this converter? Any input would be greatly appreciated. :nice:

What the stall is it will slip untill you reach 2800 rpm. After that it will fully engage the converter and you should spin your tires. With a trans brake it locks first gear and another gear so the tires dont move then when you release the it it unlocks the other gear and first gear will be like a sling shot. I have been really happy with my pi cinverter and i have had no problems with it and it's 3 years old.
 
I have the B&M 3000 stall and wish I would have bought the PI converter. I seen a 0.15 improvement in my ET with the B&M and although I can't be sure I assume I would have gotten more out of the PI. I'm sure 3 tenths is a given and you may see even more.
 
go with edge bro. they have an amazing deal and they do good business. i spoke to them and excellent customer service and quality, plus, the 3200 stall was $200 cheaper than PI and they claim to be as good or better than them. they even back it up with a bad ass warranty, return it and get all money back including shipping, he said even if you didn't like the color.

answer ??? I'm not sure. :shrug: When I reach about 2500 the car starts pulling forward. I'm not sure if this should be happening or if I need a transbrake or what. I'm so far pleased being able to launch at 2500 but sure would like to push it to 3000. So far my 60' is 1.964 with a 14.6 ET at 92 MPH. I would like to try to get my 60' to 1.8 and I may be able to sneak off a 14.4 (It is a fully trimmed GT vert) if I could launch a little harder. I know very little about modding cars and bought the converter because I was asking several people how to wake up my AODE vert and that was what I was hearing a lot. My converter, 4:10's and DR's got me from a 2.5 60' to the 1.9 so althought the car isn't fast it has made a lot of progress. :nice:
 
Yeah that is quite a cut off your 60 ft. But it shouldnt be pulling at 2500 if its a 3000 stall. It should let the engine spin without engaging the transmission all the way up to 3000 rpm's if its a 3000 stall. I've been wanting a stall myself since I have only managed 2.089 60' power braking.

This is not necessarily true. If you brake stall, the car will start to move a couple hundred rpms below the converters rated stall speed. This is taken directly from Precision Industries website:

"WHAT ARE FLASH STALL, BRAKE STALL AND TRUE STALL?
The truest definition of stall speed can only reliably be determined in conjunction with a Transbrake. Wheel brake stall is determined by locking wheel brakes and running the engine against the locked brakes. As discussed above, the engine will usually overpower the brakes and wheel rotation will begin before the true stall speed is encountered. Flash stall is observed by launch at full throttle and observation of peak RPM at launch."
