Hi, I bought a 1990 4 cyl Mustang as a winter beater today. I'm planning on having enough money to buy a good 1990 - 1993 5.0L Mustang next summer. Anyways enough about that.

This Mustang isn't in the greatest shape. The powertrain seems solid which is pretty much why I bought it, but the car has a few problems.

First off, the driver side seatbelt buckle doesn't work... like the bottom (female) end of it is broken somehow... Ford wants $75 for the buckle, I'm wondering if this buckle comes in any other cars? I called the Insurance company's salvage yard they said it was only installed on Mustangs and only on 1990 - 1993, which will make it a bit difficult to find it from a salvage yard. That doesn't seem realistic though, why wouldn't Ford use the same buckles on all the cars?

The Catalytic makes a rattling noise thats really annoying as well, would it be possible just to remove the Catalytic Converter? I don't have to worry about passing emissions where I live.

Thanks :)

The rattling noise form the cat is probaly just a loose heat sheild. Check it out, if it's loose either ignore it, rip it off, or replace it. If the seatbelt turns out to be year specific I have a whole '89 seatbelt assembly (whole seatbelt from b-pillar to trany tunnel) I'll sell you (I assume the mounts are at least the same, your risk) Maybe 5-10 bucks depending on yo location, I'm in North central florida. If your interested shoot me a PM :)
