I was talking to my Dad and complaining....what i do best.....to him about how I had to race two 19 sec cars in brackets at etown in my attempt to run pts one Sunday afternoon this season... He cant understand bracket racing. To him....and me...its so rediculous that you often have to hit the brakes to win. The fact that you have to race in Street ET against cars from 12.0-19.0 and auto and manual is rediculous to him as well.

Bracket racing doesnt bother me as much as racing slow automatic cars or trucks does. Its got to be so much easier...IT IS much easier to drive a slower car and then one you dont have to shift is even better. Then there's the electronic BS that I wont even go into. Hell YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO CUT THE LIGHT ANYMORE.....and do the tracks...does etown make sure people arent running electronics in the street class???? i dont think so.

I guess there is a need for bracket racing because there are so many different kinds of cars out there in this day and age, but why not have a class for automatic cars and another for manuals? wHY NOT have more classes...like 11.00-13.99 14.0-16.99 ,17.00 and up??????

My Dad was telling me that back in the day when he was frequenting Etown...no one wanted to run an automatic car because they are slower than a manual!

Now we have got to the point where people will bring the slowest automatic car OR TRUCK they can find to the track so they can win. WHAT A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT MUST FEEL LIKE!

GO BRACKET RACING!

I've become so annoyed this season at Sundays at Etown and the way Racing is set up every where. Its one thing to get beat by someone who races all the time and is good. Its entirely another thing to get beat by someone who has nothing to do but sit in their 17sec truck and mash the pedal on time.

Interesting. Jason, I totally agree. I hate watching bracket racing. It sucks ballz. Although the automatic thing I don't think matters. I will show you what I mean shortly. :D

..

How can you say that? I have heard that from many people WHO DRIVE AUTOMATIC CARS!

If have driven manual, then you know how different your time is if you shift just a few 100 rpms off from one run to another. IN addition, heheh if you let the clutch out too fast you can spin the tires. Even in a slow car with a manual trans, you can easily screw up your launch if you let the clutch out too fast.

While driving an manual vehicle...slow or fast... you have more to think about than cutting the light...Heck just holding the correct rpms while you are watching the light is hard and leads to less consistency.

RT in a vehicle with a manual trans is different too. You have to anticipate the light even more because you have more to do. BY the time you let the clutch out and the car goes takes more time than an automatic.

So in conclusion.... :rlaugh: In drag racing, an Automatic car does more for you, just like on the street. Nice for drinking coffee on the way to work, but.......... :rlaugh:

An argument could also be made (is often made when discussing this) that a really fast car with an automatic, gives you less control over the launch. Its easier to spin because you cant control the clutch. Thats true, but with the correct suspension set up, that doesnt happen.

There should be different classes for slow and fast, as well as, manual and automatic cars and trucks!!!!! or better yet some system of heads up racing for street cars.

I agree with most of what you say Jason. Don't misunderstand me. My goal was to have a 10 second car that for the mos part all I had to do was make sure we have good suspension , do a good burnout then cut a good light and hang on. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Automatics are slushboxes as they say. :rlaugh: I would love to see people just race heads up all the time.

alright!

ALRIGHT!

10 SEC?

Your on! hehehe it will be nice to actually get beat by someone with a real car!

OH and im just bitter about the whole issue because I decided to quit pts on sundays sunoco pts series....Its a combination of rediculously long Sundays..which I knew about in advance, but also the issues I discussed above and the fact that Englishtown puts street Et pts on sunday, but then treats us like we are in the way and caters to the faster cars.

I dont understand why they dont have street pts brackets on friday or wednesday when all the street cars are there!

It is true that racing an Automatic is easier in bracket racing.

I used to entier my AOD LX in bracket racing all the time. But it wasn't a 19 second car. It would run consistent 14.0's all night long, so it was a good car to compete with.

A little unfair i agree, but not against the rules technically. But at least my car would burn 1st gear all the way to the 1-2 shift, so i did need to baby it off the line somewhat.
