Thanks for the quick reply man. Anyway, I was thinking of upgrading to 31 spline axles, but then I thought to my self that I am nott going to be making anyseriou hp or be thrashing on it too much. The posiunit will be upgraded as a "just in case" factor.
If that's the case, then I'd just leave the stock one in there. My buddy Dale has the stock 28 spline rear(with 3.73's) in his 01 GT with a
Vortech and on M/T ET STREET tires. He leaves the line at 5,000RPM and the car run's consistent 12.20's (12.1's with cooler temps). He probabally has 125+passes down the 1/4 and No problems so far. (knock on wood
) It's going to let go some time, but so far it's done a pretty damn good job in my eye's. Most people don't think the stock rear is that great, but it's a lot better than you think
The only reason I went with 31 splines was "JUST IN CASE".
I'm glad I did, 'cause if all goes well money wise this winter, A Vortech S/C will be under my hood next spring!
A LOT of US say, that we don't plan on doing many mod's, but once you start, it's hard to stop. It's kind of like getting a tattoo. Once you get one, you want another. I always thought I'd stay N/A, but after a ride in Dale's S/C'd 01 was all it took.
