I didnt see a thread, or category for common discussion so I thought the 2005, Fit this best, being as, the 2005 isnt out yet, and I havent made up my mind yet.

Ok, Im 21 years old. Perfect Credit Im working. Im making decent money. Not bragging but I can handle the insurance. And Im wondering, Some of you are older some younger like. And I know this is a hard question, because not alot of people have driven these cars, or know much about them, in the sence of handling etc etc. Well you will get my point.

I got a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, Its a good everyday beater car. And im working on a 1970 Challenger, for a race car/show car. My Next project is gonna be a street driveable car. My question to you nice people is, what car do you think I should get? I know alot of you are gonna say Mustang, or some kind of Ford. But I dunno. And I know im the only one who can make up the decision, but I like other input also. I got roughly 20k in the bank, and I can Finance the rest easily. My mother said she would cosign for me, so that aint a problem. But I was wondering what you guys would pick.

Im looking for raw, power, or the ability for future power. Balanced, and a likeness with the ladies.

1.) 2005 Pontiac GTO, if they add the scoops on the rear fender, infront of the rear wheelwell, and add 18in wheels. The LS2 is putting out 400horsies, kinda heavy, but alot of future stuff will be out for this car.

2.) 2005 Ford GT, I know not to many people have driven this car, and not much is known about it. But im not sure I liek the rear end of it. the front look great to me, the 4 lamps gives me a cool sence of retro pride, but that back, i dunno

3.) 2004 SVT Cobra, You cna get them for a good deal right now. The ford lot dow, the road has a silver coupe. A very nice ride.

........................................................................................................
Or should I Buy my friends Yamaha R1, withc is a sportbike if you dont know, and wait for 2007, and get a Cobra when they come out

I cant make up my mind......grrrr

You should entertain the 04 Mach 1 also

I ordered an 05 back in June and got cold feet last week due to the styling and performance numbers so I started looking for an 04 Cobra, I drove the Cobra which is one sick car but wasen't really in love with the toned down look and the drivability for a daily driver could wear you out than I drove the MACH 1, It was a no brainer the Mach has the 32 valve DOHC & 3:55 gears and purrs like a cat, you should really try to drive one if any local dealers still have any on there lot!

I test drove both the MACH, and the SVT. And I know what your saying. But I got a jeep to drive around when im tired of the clutch...=]..My mission to get a streetable tank. I dunno the 2005 Mustang Looked decent, I thoguht they were doing a good job with it, but the more I see, addons and stuff, its not turning out so hot. O well I am still waiting till febuary or march to buy a car so i got time. im gonna let the snow pass.

Addons?

First of all, go with your gut. Don't let ANYONE tell you what's better than something else. You have to go with what feels right to you and what best fits your budget and lifestyle.

Since you asked for opinions............

The GTO is out. Way overpriced. Styling is boring at best. Lots of raw power though.

The '05 GT (which I assume you mean the mustang)
Retro version of the most popular American muscle car ever built.
People are buying this car as much for what it represents in American automotive history as they are for performance. A good bang for the buck.
Chick magnet? Guaranteed! The aftermarket stuff will offer more than you could ever hope for. Your backend will look as good as it gets. Plenty for performance upgrades as well.

The Mach or cobra are good choices as well. Lots of raw power and plenty of aftermarket options.

My personal opinion is the '05 mustang GT.
A lot of tough engineering went into this car to make it one of the best performing cars in its class on the road for a respectable price. Being as young as you are, you have a chance at being the first in on the next generations of an American icon. It's as American as baseball and apple pie.

Bottom line. Go with your gut.

It sounds like you are financially stable. Be smart, be careful and invest in the future. Play hard, work hard, love hard, and never look back.............Life is too short.

I agree with ponyboy on this one. The gto is nfg. The bike option is also not a great idea. I did the bike thing and what you save in expenses you lose to bad weather and close calls :notnice: that make you realize what life is worth. Don't get me wrong, but bikes are great for pleasure cruises but as a daily driver/babe magnet they're not practical. My advice would be to wait until you get feedback regarding the 2005 stang from those of us who have already bought on spec. Also, if you like the retro look, you might see something at this years Detroit auto show that will appeal to you more. Dodge has a 400 hp retro monster :nonono: coming out that might be more to your liking. I wouldn't go with a Cobra unless you're a mustang fanatic like many of us here. If you're not, the extra performance doesn't justify the added cost (price of car +premium gas). Keep an open mind, and congrats on having done a great job with your finances at a young age. :nice: Above all, before you buy anything, remember how hard you worked to save the dough, and enjoy your new car.

p.s. as a responsible older person, I'm socially obligated to advise you invest in real estate instead :rlaugh:

Thanks guys. about the detroit auto show, if you go to the website in the signature. for my 1970 Challenger, it should be in the detroit auto ramma in Jan. Come by and talk.

the 400hp mopar your talking about is the new charger, and Im not a fan of the 4 doors they are puting on those.

Thanks for all your input.
