Hey guys... there is a discussion on another forum concerning the 99+ cobras and especially two specific issues regarding this comment made by another forum member =
"99 cobras werent making much more power than the gt's, therefore no 2000 cobra. there was a 2000 cobra R, but only 300 were made. 2001 the cobra engine was fixed. 2002 no cobra due to redesign for 03'. "

1 - i am arguing that there was a huge difference between the 99 cobra and 99 gt 320hp vs 260hp which disputes what the latter states
2 - the reason there was no cobra in 02 was due to the fact that 01 was the year that the cobra was not making 320hp like it was supposed to hence the redesign for the 03/04's

would just like to make a few facts clear here with your help guys thanks!

Sorry dude, but your wrong on the years. 1999 was the bum year. They did put down more power than the GT's, but they still werent impressive ~250-260rwhp compared to the GT's 230rwhp. The statements in the other forum regarding the years is correct, your were not. Sorry.

that is such bullsh it...if you have a 99 with the fix you will put down 270-275 rwhp stock....I'm sick of people talking about s h i t that they know nothing about. 99 cobra as fast as a gt.....hahaha that's f u c k i n g absurd man.

i believe he ment the pre-fix 99 Cobras weren't making much more hp than the 99 GT's. which is correct. everyone knows post-fix is another story.

well I mean come on man....how many 99 cobra's out there don't have the fix right now? Maybe 1% max.

The 99's came out, and didn't put out the advertised HP. Ford put out the fix which put it where it should be. 99.9% of all 99's have had the fix. 99's and 01's have the same hp now. I believe there were no 02's because ford was working on the "terminator".

99 pre fix = 250-260RWHP

No 2000 cobras in the US because of the FIX

Post Fix 99 = 270-280 RWHP

In 2000 Ford made a handfull of Cobras that went to australia

2000 Cobra R 300 made we all know that

2001 = 320BHP or 270-280RWHP just like a post fix 99

2002 = SVT working on the Terminator

On a sidenote i really wanted one of the 2000 Mystic Gold Cobras that they had in the sales brochure

i have seen quite a few dyno sheets of 99 cobra's after the fix putting down around 285 to the rear wheels so if you want to make a point make a point that some of the post fix 99's make more than advertised.

BEFORE AND AFTER THE FIX
-Stock car with the exeption of a K&N Filter and 3.73 Gears
-Same Dyno

99 was low HP but not much more than 10-20 max which was still 40 more than GT. 2000 fix year. 2001 OK no 2002 because 03 soon to arrive.
