T5 Tranny Question

Is there a differance in the 86-93 GT T5 and the 4cyl T5 tranny?

I need one to go into an 87 GT and found a good 4cyl T5, but need to know if it is the same or can handle the HP of the V8.

my car came with a 4cyl t-5 behind my 5.0. it was o.k till one day my 5.0 decided to eat it and it was no more

Different pilot bearing size (.59"), numerically higher gears (1'st=3.97, 2'nd=2.43, 3'rd=1.46, 5'th=.79), reduced torque capacity (240ft/lb).

a friend of mine used one temporarily, and unless it's only temporary while you dont beat on the car and save up for a tremec or other t-5, I would not reccomend it.

Yeah, the gear ratios are rediculously high (numerically)
