Fresh Off the Dyno...N/A and Nitrous #'s Inside!!!

  • Sponsors (?)

Well ......

I just went through all this toooooo.

On an 80 shot of nitrous (dry) and a bottle pressure of Exactly 1100. I gained exactly 76 at the wheels. This is with a SCT tune and an A/f right in the 11.7-12.0 range. The rich dip in the A/F at 4500 will be fixed by CJ himself.

Anyway .... I also doubt more than the actual hp shot can be achieved (Safely).

Blue is NA - red is Nitrous.

PS - you should see my Standard Numbers which were exact to actual because is has been SO cold up here. 393/480

The nitrous pull was done with stock factory tuning. I would like to see the a/f ratio a little richer up top so I will probably drop jet sizes from 59 down to 58 or 57. I would like to get a tune, but there are no Ford tuners in my area.

So that was with a 59 jet .... Hmmmm, my 42 gave me an 80 shot. So was your 59 only yielding a 100??? I figured a 47 or 53 would do that but maybe I am wrong. Do know the breakdown????

The 59 jet was the one recommended by NOS in the instructions that came with the kit. It yielded 115HP at the wheels.

This is where my BS call came from. You can't claim 115rwhp as the gospel when you are obviously VERY LEAN on 850# of bottle pressure. When your bottle pressure goes up you'll be in serious trouble. Get the A/F fixed and you'll have a less than 100rwhp gain (but SAFE)like a NOS dry kit should have.

Good numbers. YOu are slightly lean. I'm at 12.9:1 at 5700 and thats a little lean. With nitrous it's acceptable to be a little leaner than a blower car. 12.5:1 is really where you want to be. If you add fuel you may find your numbers may go up a little, because with N2O it's the added fuel that makes the power not the juice.

BLK03: You got ballz running a 65 jet on a stock engine. :hail2:

I called NOS Tech Dept. today to find out how they felt about my air/fuel and HP#'s. According to the tech guy, my air/fuel ratio is fine for the 05116 dry kit. I will still be sending my SCT Flash Tuner back to JMSChip for a nitrous tune.

Before going to the dyno, I ran several times with the bottle pressure over 1100psi with no problems at all. I also check all plugs every couple of weeks to ensure nothing is going wrong.

Well good luck....tick......tick......tick......tick......BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I appreciate your concern for the life of my engine, I don't need your smart ass comments. If my engine does blow, so be it, but according to the largest and oldest manufacturer of nitrous kits in the world my air/fuel is fine. However, if you can prove to me that you somehow know more than the manufacturer then I will will disregard their years of research and development and take your advice.

You are taking my advice dumba$$. Your #'s are bogus. When you get the A/F corrected with a tune(JMS will no doubt pull timing and add fuel) or N2O jets your #'s will be what they should be , less than 100rwhp gain. Don't come to a public forum and boast about your dyno #'s if you can't take the comments that go along with it. :nonono:

There is a big misunderstanding on jet sizes/ hp ratings and modifications done to the car. See the more mods you have done (the better the engine breathes) the more horse power you get per jet size. So for example: with this kit in particular there are 2 jet sizes for a 100 shot one for a stock engine and one for a modified engine. if you place the 100 shot jet for a stock engine and you have mods you can be receiving the equivalent of a 150 shot because when mods are done it takes a lot less N2O to achieve 100 HP. I have had a very detailed discussion with NOS about this. They also said that 12.5:1 is about the highest they reccomend with this kit and this engine. And just because you ran 2 bottles and everything seems fine dosen't mean everything is fine. Pull back timing, add fuel and your numbers may actually go up a little or they may drop a little but shouldn't be too drastic. Keep us posted.

Also my dry kit with a 100 shot jet yeilded exactly 100 rwhp and 210 rwtq with a final 12.5:1. When properly tuned this kit gives some of the best numbers I've seen. The only draw back to the kit is that you need to tap into the computer to adjust fuel instead of just changing a jet.

I did not start this thread to boast about my numbers but rather to share them with others who may have similar mods or are planning to use this kit. I am simply here to share information, not criticize or call names. I thank you for your input, but I think you could have given it in a manner that didn't portray you as an *******.

Lopey4.6-
I did read in the kit about the different jet sizes for stock and modified cars. I also asked this question to the NOS Tech and according to him, a modified car is one that has aftermarket Heads, Cams, Intake, etc. He said he would consider my car stock not modified. Maybe this guy didn't know what he was talking about. I will have JMS install a nitrous tune on my SCT Programmer based on these dyno runs, but I won't be able to go there and have them tune the car in person as they are 4 hrs from me. So this will unfortunately be a guess and check process. Thanks for your input.

I just got back from the dyno. I pulled 253.2 HP and 288.2 Trq. SAE naturally aspirated. Air/Fuel stayed between 12.9 and 13.2. On the nitrous, I pulled 366.9 HP and 462.2 Trq. SAE jetted for a 100 HP shot w/ the bottle pressure at only 850psi.!! Air/Fuel was stayed at around 12.6-12.9 with a high of 13.1. The N/A numbers are about what I expected, but, needless to say, I was rather impressed w/ the nitrous numbers. By the way, this was done on a DynoJet.

Sounds like boasting to me. Got any track numbers for that combo ...... or are you just a poser? My track numbers are in my sig .... as you can tell I know very little about these cars. :(

Jay

I didn't question your knowledge about these cars but rather the immature way you presented it. And to answer your question, no I have not had a chance to go to the track yet. I wanted to get it on the dyno first to make sure everything was running as it should before beating on it for a quarter mile. So, I guess you can call me a poser, and I can call you a prick.
