Ok, come on, who put a stock shift light in my cobra? What the h e ll, it tells me to shift at 1800 rpm? I guess they wany me to get great fuel mileage, but in traffic if I shift at the light it bogs the motor like crazy. and thats no fun. So I ignore the little amber bulb, no big deal. But now Im doing a lot of night time driving and it glares like crazy. ANNOYING!!! anybody know how to deactivate it so it never illuminates again? I thought about pulling the cluster and ripping out the bulb, but I would probbably screw something up. For a quick fix I stuck a piece of duct tape over it, but that sort of xxxx-engineering doesnt fly with the lady friends. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Live with it

Don't disable it, because it may be a good resale feature -- in case gas goes up to $3.00 gallon. I found that it really does work for gas mileage...otherwise, just ignore it (or laugh at its feeble attempts to tell you what to do).

If that is your only trouble with your Cobra, consider yourself lucky.

I had James disable that little light when I got the Predator. Now I have an AutoMeter tach with shift light, lets me keep a good eye on the revs and I can set it to whatever I want, nice. :nice: Funny story, when I first bought the car, I was out on a test drive with the salesman, and I asked him what that little light that kept popping up was for, and he told me " oh, that's to let you know that the supercharger is winding up and you are ready for boost" :rlaugh:

I got a custom tune from Amazon racing, but didn't ask about the shift light. Can I still change it with the Preadator???

No, the Predator does not have a user setting to change the shift light. You would have to tell your tuner to change it when they create your custom tune. They don't actually disable it, they just set it for 10,000 RPM's, that way you never see it!

U.M.

My light seems to come on at about 1700 rpms, so when I shift it drops to about 1200, and if you are following a slow poke old fart and half to lift a little, it sounds like the motor wants to bog alittle.

I have found when I am in 1'st gear and rolling along slowly and just touch the gas a little to keep moving, but can't shift into 2'nd, it jerks back and forth. These cobra's hate to be in 1'st for any extended period of time. :p
Not that I'm in 1'st for very long anyway. :nice:
