i agree with 90 lx. i live about 2 minutes from where its supposedly going to be, i didnt hear anything about a drag way, it wuld be so awsome though, it would bring so much money and it would take alot of racing off of the street, and add some excitement to the town, but as far as nascar comming, there is a big y supermarket right next to where they are putting it and i just cant see dale jr and gordon doing a little shopping on a rain delay???? its supposed to be built, but as far as a dragway???? dose anyone have more info on this?? they send a card to all the people in the surrounding towns and i filled mine out and at the bottom i put that id like to see a dragway but i doubt it will happen..

I have a copy of the Norwich bulletin artical where Arganese is quoted as saying he is considering adding a dragstrip to the proposal. This artical was on August 12th. That is why I want to attend the meetings to get additional info. I suppose you could also call the contact # and ask.

If this is a roundy round track only it will have no impact on me at all. I can already go to four stock car tracks within 40 minutes of me. One more ? Big deal. The closest dragway is over 140 miles. I e-mailed the developer stating the same. There is definately a demand in this area I hope the developer realizes it.

Its funny because every person i meet complains about street racing and cops do and so do older citizens, but the thing they dont understand is they close down all our tracks and everyone that is proposed they vote down, there is a definite need for a track in the lower mass,RI, or CT area, and i am sure the street racing numbers would go down. It takes me 3 hours to get to NED towing my car and i havnt even tried to get to lebanon valley or englishtown, we need somethin else!

I live 10 minutes from where the track is to built and there is more YEA than NAY . It is also talk about the 1/4 mile strip also. I will keep you posted. There is a meeting at the Holliday Inn on Monday the 13 at 7pm to discuss some issues. Thanks Tom

I just recieved this email from the raceway

To all supporters of the Plainfield Raceway, there are 5 ways in which you can help us!

1. E-mail a letter to the Planning Board and to the newspapers. Put your name, address and phone number on it. Please stress that you support the zone change that would allow a racetrack proposal. The zone change will create over 5,000 jobs, bring in millions in local tax dollars to Plainfield’s budget, and over $100 million in tax benefits to the State of Connecticut. The traffic will be mitigated with a plan to satisfy the State DOT requests. Also, unlike rumors you may have heard, there will be no annexation of this land for expanded gaming for anyone. The only gaming that will be allowed will be the existing dog track wagering.

E-mail you letter by September 23 to [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected]

2. Attend the BIG MEETING of the Planning and Zoning at 7 pm on September 23rd at Town Hall in Plainfield. Please speak out in support of the zone change. Keep your comments limited to the zone change request – that it will increase revenue and jobs to the region, etc.

3. JOIN THE PRO-RACEWAY GROUP AND HELP OUT! A pro group is being formed, please e-mail us back if you can help out this group.

4. Sign a petition – they are at the current Greyhound track or you can get one at the meeting on the 23rd!

5. DISPLAY A LAWN SIGN! EMAIL US BACK IF YOU WANT ONE, HOW MANY YOU NEED, AND THE ADDRESS TO DELIVER THEM TO!
