Okay i need to buy new tires and am thinking about the nitto's in 305 to fit my 18x9 wheels. I know its a tight fit but works my question is how good to 18" dr work. I mean am i actually going to be able to launch the car and hook even though they are 18s?

I was able to fit my BFG Drag Radials on my 18" x 9" Roush Wheels with no problems. The BFG 295/35/18 DR has a tire section width of 11.7", while the Nitto 305/35/18 has a section width of 12.4". My guess is that is going to be a tight fit on a 9" wide rim.

nittos run ont the smaller side and they have a 18" drag radial in 305 and 3 or 4 people that knwo what they are talking about told me they will fit but i mean how good is an 18" drag radial actually is what im asking

Shorter sidewall - not as good of a launch.

No offense but with your mods I don't think you need a 305 drag radial. If you really want better times switch to 17s or better yet 16s and get BFG drag radials.

Why on earth would you want to run D/Rs on the street daily? They will last about 5k miles. To answer your original question, you will be able to dump the clutch from a stop at 3k without breaking them loose.

I bought 275 / 40 / 17 BFG DRs and had them mounted on a spare set of junkyard wheels. If I had it to do over again, I would have bought 295/60/15 DRs and had them mounted on Weld Superlites. Zero sidewall deflection on the 17" and 18" DRs = broken axles.
