At least its not the typical "which should I buy" but here goes.....

I recently purchased 2 flowmaster 40 series and had them welded in. When the car started, I wasn't too happy with the sound because it was not loud enough. Immediately i thought "i should have bought American Thunder" Now, before you all go saying "H-Pipe" I would like to know if you can buy the tail pipes from something like the American Thunder and i could have those installed??? Secondly, will different tail pipes like the ones from AT make the car any louder. Basically I want to really hear it at idle, buddy of mine has a car that does but it don't have an Hpipe but his tail pipes look a little different. If anyone knows where i can buy them at, please let me know!

if u want a great sound and more volume w/ those Flowmasters, go with the MAC Prochamber midpipe, or an xpipe such as mustangtuning, VRS, UPR, DR. Gas etc...... You can find tailpipes anywhere on the net to have welded into your exhaust, but they will not make it louder. The only tips that claim to do something for sound are the Borla tips, which claim to smooth out the tone a little. some great tips to consider are the MRT tips

hope all this helps :nice:

aight, thanks man. What are some good midpipes with cats that will make it deeper? Cannot find a shop in my area to do it cause its "against the law" and do not have the tools or technical know-how to do it myself

I highly recommend the MRT catted H-pipe. Many catted midpipes still trip the MIL, but that's not been my experience with the MRT catted H-pipe. I have a pair of 40 series Deltaflows clamped into the stock system with my catted MRT H-pipe. The sound is excellent - very much like the 5.0s with modified exhausts. I do have to warn you though, if you don't like drone (I actually do like it), then I would either a.) not get this set-up or b.) get 4.10s so you are outside (above) the drone zone on the hwy. I personally favor alternative 2! :)

If that set-up wasn't loud enough for you, then go without the cats. You might also want to consider the catted prochamber (another excellent mustang mid-pipe when using flows.)

0LASERGT1 - IMO, I don't think tips alone can change the sound of an exhaust. Unless the tips have those removable insert thingys, I think it's more looks then anything else. Or perhaps if you go from a small diameter tip to a 4" it may make a small difference in sound . . . but I still don't think it would be enough to notice any significant change in deepness.

As most stated, I think your sound "wake-up" will come with your mid-pipe (H or X).
