Could anyone tell me if its hard to change the plugs on a 69' mustang with a 429 engine? I was thinking about buying one but im worried for the simple task of changing plugs I might have to pull the engine.

Thanks,
Jim

I saw a 70 Fastback at a show last weekend with a 429 Cobra Jet in it. The plugs looked like a real pain in the butt to change. I was looking at it trying to figure out how to even get a couple of them out. There is no room at all.
Good luck if you get it.

Thanks guys, thats what I thought, its not a BOSS 429, just a regular 429. I know even my 351c in my 73' middle plugs weren't as easy as I was expecting to reach. Its them huge ford shock towers.

All you should have to do to gain access to the plugs easier is to remove the valve covers. My friend had a 70 Mach 1 with a 460 stroked to 500 CI and that is what we had to do in order to change the plugs. It only adds a few minutes to the job and really isn't bad at all.

On my 428, the #7 & #8 plugs are the hardest to get to, right under the PB unit. But removing the valve covers & using a flexhead ratchet & a u-joint on the socket works wonders. I always heard that the 429's plugs are much easier to get to.
