I recently rotated my gatorbacks again and noticed and odd trend with ALL 4 tires. They are all wearing on just the very outside tread of the tire. Is it just from high speed cornering or what? These tires have around 20,000 miles on them. They are also very close to the wear lines as is.

definately sounds like too much positive camber...but generally it would only apply to one or both of the front tires...not all four!

If you have stock suspension and you corner hard all the time you are going to get outside tire wear because the car has so much body roll. I had the same problem. I wish I would have lowered mine when I first got it, My tires would have lasted much longer.

I had my front tires up to about 42lbs for when I went to the track and it DESTROYED the outter edges of my tires. I lowered the pressure in the front tires and swapped them front to back and have had no more issue. I don't know why, but I attribute the wear to too much pressure in the tires.

I had something similar to this happen on my '03. Weird thing about mine was that it was only the driver side 
The very outside edge was wearing badly. I had my shop look at it and one of the guys thought it could be toe, but that would affect both front tires, not just one. Air pressure was at around 32 in front driver side, and 30 on passengers side. With that I would think that the passenger side would show wear on the outside before my side did.
I got the car lowered a week or so after I noticed the tread wear, so I put c/c plates on as well, and got it aligned.
Later I got 2 Nitto 555's put on the back, so I just kept my 2 best tires and put them on the front.
If anyone is in the market for new tires I definately recommend the 555's

Toe would not cause tires to wear out on the outside (or insides for that matter) mostly odd tire wear is attributed to camber. If your camber was perfect, and you and terrible toe, the tire would wear evenly, I am currently testing the affects of lowering cars right now at work. I will let you guys know the results when I am done. I am measuring tire temperature differences from Caster, Camber, and toe. Fun part about it is I get to use my Stang as a test vehicle which = free parts to me

At 20k miles the tread was gone on the outside of my front tires. I got new tires and had an allignment done. The allignment was totally within spec!
I had been living near some twisties and was always screaming/drifting through them. I also worked in an office and had to park in a garage. I wouldn't haul ass through the garage but my tires were always squeeling going around the turns down 4 levels of the garage. Type type of driving causes weight transfer to the outside front tire and I believe that caused the premature tire wear. Apparantly this can be resolved with a camber adjustment even with stock suspension setup.
I need to do this adjustment, since I've put 5k miles on the new tires the outside is noticably worn.
