Probably not. WHile the new C5 corvette has been on Tv for months, i only saw the first magazine ad for the new Mustang last week.

Ford tends to suck when it comes to commercials. They like to focus on their F-150's and freestars and Focuses. Their attempts to make their cars look "fun" are pathetic. Fords best attempt at trying to sell cars by making them look fun is the new Focus ads featuring a lively talking focus! Wake up Ford!! I'm not gonna go buy a focus because it talks to me in a witty attitude!

Take GM and their ads with Chevy and Caddilic. They make the cars seem fun to drive! Chevy shows an ad with an 18-wheeler fishtailing into a parking lot with their cars spinning tires off the loader. Even the SSR comercials were awesome because the SSR was shown spinning tires and in general appearing fun to drive. Even the new Cobalt commercial showing the cobalt tapping the C6 which does a 180 degree burnout is awesome! And we all know Caddy, which advertises their cars as performance machines. When was the last time you saw a caddy flying down the road fishtailing? Well, if you watched their advertisments, you would think they all did. Anyone who has seen the new STS and SRX commericials will agree. If Ford did a commercial about the C6, they would park it in a parking lot and give it a funny talking voice.

Ford did have 1 good commerical in the last year or so. Remember the Ford GT 60-second spot showing the car flying around a racetrack?? Way to go ford, you finally show us a car that we all want to drive powersliding around a course, and yet none of us can realistically afford one!

The last Mustang commercial i saw was back in '99 and it was terrible. It was the one with the young kid and his '99 lived next to an old guy and a classic mach 1. They found out they each had mustangs and became buddies.

The last good mustangs commericial i saw was for the 1988 Mustang GT, which showed it rocketing down the road banging gears ripping by a home and shaking it off it's foundation. After that, i KNEW i had to buy an '88 Mustang :D

Anyway, Ford will probably lame out again, showing the new Mustang in the background of an ad boasting about their freestars and F-150's being best selling or some crap.

Ford, you want to sell a lot of Mustangs?? Make them look fun to drive! In other words! Tire smoke and lots of it!

Ford will be lucky if it fixes all of the defective engines on the 2005 Mustangs which they just built at the Flat Rock, Michigan plant in Detroit. Ford has to worry about that before they start selling GT's with defective 4.6 liter engines in them. Shame on Ford!

This issue has already been addressed, it's total :bs:

I have never seen to many Mustang ads in the past....they seem to sell pretty well i think? Don't really have to spend the money on huge ads when you have a car that will basically sell itself on its name alone

This has already been brought up, and proven to be :bs: . As i recall, you posted about the same message in another thread today.

Time to give up on this dude. It is total BS. :bs:

An AAI line worker posts on Brad's site. He told us that there has ben no mention of any engine problems and they have continued to build V8 GTs as planned. Not only that, but on Friday they were told that they are increasing the # of GTs that they going to build due to the strong orders.

the only issue ford is having is that they are running low on stock to keep up with the suspected demand once it hits the streets. There are no engine problems. I friend of mine who works for Ford in Mi and is involved with the composite intake quality control heard nothing about 2005 engine problems. All he hears is that they are having trouble cranking out enough of them!!

Back on topic:

I was wondering this exact same thing... how the ad campaign would be for the new Mustang.

However, in my opinion, Ford marketing is usually horrible :nonono: (The Ford GT advertisement was a step in the right direction).

I can't ever remember a good ad campaign for our current Mustangs. At the time of their release, they just seemed to appear on the road suddenly. As it has already been said, the Mustang name should sell itself, but there should have been more recognition. And during the 99-04 life, I can remember a couple Mustang commercials...."GET A NEW MUSTANG FOR ONLY $5 A DAY!" Classy. The other was with Bill Ford saying corny things like "Just push the accelerator and it goes" "I enjoy cruisin' and blarin' the tunes" and "Big, throaty V8." Witty.

Let's look at some other Ford ad campaigns. The new F-150. I hoped they'd make it sound like a smart, superior truck with great technology. But, we got an All-American cowboy jammin' "I'm a Ford truck man...that's all I drieeeeeve...ain't got no boundaries...." That ruined the truck's image for me.

Let's move on...Focus. It begs to be driven. Clever. Here we have the focus talking in an irritating voice, saying nothing worthwhile. In my mind, I could see 6-year old's laughing and wanting a stuffed focus.

So, you should see my point; I hope the new Mustang ad campaign is epic. Some of my ideas:

Lots of short, 15-second teasers.

1. No voice or music...just the engine as the Mustang carves around a foggy valley, showing the lights and fogs of the GT beaming through. It comes to an abrupt stop, the fog slowly clears, and gives you a great view of the new '05 Mustang. The words slowly appear on the screen "The all-new '05 Mustang has arrived."

2. The commercial begins as a wide, open field of loud, stampeding Mustangs at sunset. This goes on awhile, and at the end, an '05 GT emerges from the middle of the stampede with the words "The all new '05 Mustang has arrived." slowly appearing on the screen.

3. I feel strongest about having commercials linking back to Mustang history, tying in with the whole retro theme. They could show the '65 slowly fading into the '05 as an evolution commericial, and etc. There are countless great ideas for retro Ford Mustang / New '05 hybrid commercials.

Anyway, I saw the article about the first '05 Mustang ad being the one showing a Mustang racing around in a corn field, which sounds promising. I'm just worried that Ford makes the Mustang talk, "I'M A MUSTANG!!!!!! HAHA WEEEE! I'M DRIVING AROUND A CORN FIELD!!!! YEEEE HAAAA! PUSH MY ACCELERATOR TO MAKE ME GO FASTER!!!!! WOOOOOO!" ...And of course it being driven by a jammin' hillbilly singing "Ain't got no boundaries!" ;)

Mustang5L5: By the way, I wrote this entire post before reading your original post, speaking my mind based on the thread title. I cannot believe how many similar points we brought up. Haha...it sounds like I was repeating you, but I hadn't read anything you said...amazing. This must mean others share these feelings.

This one would be awesome. Gave me a friggin chill as I imagined it happening as I read. I could visualize the whole thing how I would want it to happen. Hopefully they'll do something good like that - it wouldn't even be a very expensive spot. Hire a good crew and a chopper and go to work on it on a foggy day... :nice:

Our luck, we'll get something cheezy like that. Meanwhile chevy keeps pumping out Corvette commercials actually showing the car being driven . Ford show tire smoke in a commercial? Oh the lawyers would have a feild day. But it was Ok do do so in the GT-40 commercial because it's the flagship of a company created for high end buyers and made to appeal to others. Ford's thinking "show a GT-40 spinning tires, and buyers will come to Ford".

The thing i notice aboue Mustangs, is that you can take the most non-car educated person out there, and when you say Mustang, then envision a tire-spinning V8 beast. That is truely the Mustang's image and what sells the car today. Whenever i show my car off to friends, they always say "let's see what it can do" or "spin the tires".

Maybe some of these Ford marketing execs should drive a new Mustang GT around town for a few days. Take some time to see what it's like to own a V8 Mustang and not get driven around in a Town Car limo. Feel how everyone wants to race you, rev at you, get you to slab 1st and 2nd gear up. It's a youthful feeling and that's the Mustang's image, and Ford needs to take advantage of that.

But then again, The Mustang sells on name alone. Honestly, i think the '05 Mustang could have been designed to look like total crap and it would have had a good reception. The name and heritage is stong enough that it sells itself, just attach a car to the name.

Haha, amazing huh? I kinda thought you were repeating what I said, but then i read that you wrote that before reading what i wrote. Too bad someone from Ford marketing can't read this thread and realize maybe they should think about "adjusting" their new line-up of commercials....at least for the Mustang. No whiney "I'm a Mustang, drive me!" commercials. :D
