Found oil consumption problem....

How many of you guys have had a problem with burning oil between oil changes? My car before modding was thought to have the original motor but recently found a small metal "Ford Remanufactured Tag" on the side of the block. So not only was I pissed considering I bought the car used with the original motor but I have recenlty found another major assembly problem. When I approached FORD with the oil comsumption problem they said it was normal to use up to a quart every 3k miles. To me that sounds very ridiculous for a new car. But I found something today when I pulled my motor apart and I am shocked. What I found makes me think I have the culpret. I am not even going to talk about the ball bearing that fell out when I turned the block over on the stand. Before I go after Ford and SVT I wanted a general head count of people who have issues with burning or using oil inbetween changes. So post up, please.

Of course, mine has 110k+ miles on it (as far as I know). Where exactly was your tag?

Let's see, in human years...yep, I burn a little oil too, so that's about right.
 
definetly add my name. my original motor (12k miles) was burning over 3 quarts every oil change!!! no lie. then it started knocking :mad: so ford replaced it under warranty. and wouldn't ya know, the new burns about 2. what the f#@k!!!! so i installed a blower and laugh about it now. but i would like to know whats going on.

My 99 cobra at 5500 miles used 1 qt 900 miles, FORD said that was normal. Put on hooker long tubes
instantly started smoking 1qt.in 80 miles.
Ford voided my warranty even with headers removed,reason rubber in rear fenderwell! We removed the motor where i work. FOUND scored cylinders,busted rings
several wasted valve seals. $3500 to rebuild motor no help from ford.
now mods are accufab t/body,
mac ceramic longtubes,prochamber,gears,
springs,mac catback.pro5.0 shifter,
Straight shot air system,steeda timing adjuster,cams,pulleys.
NOW uses 1qt 1500 miles i can live with this.
Now has 36000 miles no problems!
PS.sold my headers and O/R thinking they caused problem,then had to re-purchase!!!
:bs to Ford blaming abuse and mods!
 
yep, I've got an 01 GT and I have 58,000 miles. Mine is burning about a qt every 3000 until I got it on the dyno and I burned a qt in 12 hours. Granted he made 28 dyno pulls but still alot of oil.I use synthetic and he said change to regular oil because synthetic tends to leak more. He says its my valve seals and it smokes hella on decelleration. New heads and cams in the works.

Do a leak down test. And a compression test. I do not believe anyone anymore who says its the valve seals. I pulled mine off at 50k ish and they looked great. No leaking. It was my missing oil ring on #6 and the cylinder scratches.
