Here is my delima ...

Do I

1. Order my interior and get the inside completed?

2. Hold out and hopefully get enough extra money to do the outside first?

Is it better to do the ouside or inside first?

I had the AC in my house go out so there went several thousand...

Need opinions please....

If you are refering to a bunch of body work and a new paintjob for your outside work I would suggest doing that first.

It would probably be best to gut your interior and have the work done on the outside in my opinion. That way you dont have any masking lines such as around the windows and can have that nice paint inside as well so it looks purdy when you pull your carpet back. When I do somethin I dont ever do it halfway so I may be the wrong person to take advice from :D ...Just my 2 cents.

well...made a decision...

Well after long thought and talking to several people...

I am going to go ahead with the interior...when I get the money for the paint I'll pull the interior...

If I wait until paint...I will be unable to do anything else until sometime mid next year more than likely...

So thanks for the input from everyone...

Ultimate interior kit, rattle paint (for now), bumpers and rocker moulding, export brace being picked up today!

Thanks

I would do exterior paint before anything.
It is doubling your work to have to pull the car apart to paint it.
I have always been told that you do paint before anything.
Nothing looks worse than a new engine, suspension, glass, etc... with overspray.

Wellll.....

I guess I just can't heed good advice....or maybe ....

I was just itching to spend some money...and make some progress...this standing still was driving me crazy...

After careful re-consideration I am leaving the items on order...

My plan is as follows...

1. install new bumpers have to have them to legally drive

2. complete the eastwoods rust encapsulator application to all interior covered by carpet/panels/headliner etc.

3. Apply seam sealer to all newly welded floor pans...

4. install underlayment and sound deadener...

5. install upholstery on front buckets and install them.

I plan now to leave the remainder of the interior out and pray to the money gods and see if they answer me...

So sometimes a horse resists at first but then comes to it's senses and reluctantly drinks :D

 :rlaugh: :nice: All right, good for you.......jack!!!!! But ya know, while heeding advice can save one some undo frustration, often the only way to actually learn something in life is to try your way first. There is nothing wrong with that at all, provided that you do actually learn from your mistakes when you make them.

When I get anxious to complete something on my car I try to remind myself to think back to my youthful days of building just models of actual cars. I used to practically throw some of them together in a weekend, but they all looked like crap. Finger prints on un-dry paint, sloppy glue, etc....but, they were finished. Only when I learned patience was more important than immediate results did I finally start to enjoy my models long after the experience of making them was done. To this day I still do hate when I have to drive my car around with out some trim or door panels because my weekend project actually turned out to be a 49 hour job, but hey at least I still have one to drive.

If'n it was me...

I would do what interior work needs done to make the car safe to drive and prevent rust from eating the sheetmetal. That way I could drive it while I saved up enough money to get the bodywork done.

I think you'll be fine taking the interior out to do the paint. It's not THAT hard and it's worth it to get a good paint job.

That's coming from me who is stripping the car and putting it on a rotisserie for who knows how long. And, I never even got to drive the car!! (Except on and off the trailer... actually, someone else drove onto the trailer....)

I've waited 35 years for my dream car, I can wait another one or two.. *sob*..
