05 GT vs MACH1 race RESULTS.....thats right...RESULTS!

I can not give information on the car, except it was a stock 5 speed.....

rolling start....

it was close to about 60 MPH, and then the 05 GT pulled away....by 120MPH it had about 1 1/2 cars on the MACH

the 05 was also put up against a 01 Cobra with full exhaust and 4.11s...results were about the same.....

Rolling starts were done so driver would not be a factor....

I was not present for the race, but got information from a really good source, which I also can not give out.

I think we have a winner....... :flag:

I can vouch for this guy's info. He had to be at the Mustangs at the Queen Mary show in Long Beach, CA. I was there and there was a fellow at Magnaflow Exhaust who told him this. He told me the exact same thing and he seemed very credible. He also told me that Magnaflow has the '05 exhaust already done, and that they worked on raising the mufflers in the car so that you do not really see them from behind. They were afraid that people would not like to see them because they are all the way in the back of the car. Ford asked Magnaflow to not advertise or annouce the exhaust prior to a specific date.

If you guys still don't believe it, the fellow who told me all this was a red-haired, taller fellow with a 1967 Shelby GT500, dark blue. Don't recall his name, but he works for Magnaflow.

I'm the newb?? Looks to me like I've been a member longer than you. Your story sounds stupid. "A buddy who I can't name of a buddy who i can't name in a place I can't name in a car I can't name in a year I can't name raced a Mach 1." Who wouldn't believe that?? Its exploding with facts!

LOL.....that fellow you talked to was me...........

SVO- the newbie comment was directed towards the second guy.....I was trying to be respectful towards you, if you read my initial reply....

now that the cat is out of the bag as far as who I work for, you can see that I do have access to information on these cars, and do know several different companies that have these cars currently in their possesion......

as far as not giving out specific information......I am just protecting my sources......as I dont want them to get flooded by calls from Stang Net members who want to know more about the race/05 Mustang...exc exc exc

but it did have the most important fact....like who won......

BTW....I have nothing against MACH1s.......personally, I love those cars...in fact I almost bought one about a month ago.....

but my wife told me no...lol....

so I am not trying to put down the MACH in any way shape or form......

and this was stock to stock....we still have to see which one repsonds better to mods.....

It was definilty nice to talk to you at the show. Your information and politeness has definitly sold Magnaflow at least one exhaust system for an '05.

Sorry about letting the cat out of the bag. I just get sick of everyone bashing everyone. It's a shame that this is what the internet has come down to because of idiots. I'm not bashing anyone who doubted because it's only natural with all the trolls out there, it's just a shame. :nice:

wow, this thread would hit triple numbers really soon....
1.5 cars from a rolling start against a 5 speed mach???
a '01 cobra with full exhaust and 4.11's??, maybe 4.10's... ???
maybe both cars, the cobra and the mach were shifting sooner :)
interesting.... anyways,we would have the chance to refute this race really soon :nice:
GNN60GT500, in the meantime if you know the guy who owns that 05 gt or someone else with a 05 gt that wanna try a friendly run against an almost stock 5 speed mach 1 (i won't shift sooner) please let them know, i would put my car against them anytime track/street. i live in orange county also.
please feel free to pm me or email me. a video of this would be great...

Hey Guys don't give him any crap! He has been on StangNet for a long time and I have talked to him personally. Do you really think Ford would not allow companies such as MagnaFlow to have the next Mustang to do new designs for exhaust before it releases? Come on. Be realistic.

Thank you MACH1dsg.......

the 05 is now torn apart getting mods done for the SEMA show......

thanks for understanding I am not trying to bash MACH1s.....

I just got told about the race results and thought everyone would like to know....

If I knew I was going to get flamed for posting this, I wouldnt have done it.

It makes me sad that this is what it has come to....

I can understand if I would have said something bad about MACH1s.....but I don't have anything bad to say about them....make mine azure blue....

Well until we see "Real" production cars on the street I don't see any real information here. Ford took the pre-prodution MACH around that was tweeked to the max. It ran 12.9 with DR's here at Tulsa International and very low 13's bone stock all week.

Pre-production cars usually are ringers and once the factory guys learn where to shift them and how to launch them they do well. There will be a range the 05 will run in along with the normal HP rating but a hand built baby won't be exactly like a regular production car IMO.

The Mach RWHP range for the 5 speed was from 265 for early rich crappy tuned 03's to the upper 280's.

Forget a little rolling start drag race. What happens when you have to take a corner?

You guys seem to have missed this little gem in the M/T article:

In the slalom the new Mustang feels alltogether more precise, predictable and stable than the car it replaces. ............ The best run was over 66 MPH, better than any previous Mustang except for the race-ready Cobra R of 2000.

And that's with those crappy tall, narrow, all season tires you guys keep pissing and moaning about. Imagine how good the '05 will be once we get the 18" performance tires on it.
