i think that you are going to need alittle more power then that. The only time you will be poping wheels is off the line and nitrous isnt going to hlep much there. When you do get the power and i would think at least 600hp you are going to want some slicks and the most firm suspension you can find. I am no where near anything like that so i dont know from experience but its going to take alot to pull a wheelie in a car. Bikes are different, you can actually pull up on the bike to help it up and the power to weight ratio is crazy on some of them. I know busa's can run in the range of low 9's out of the box.

You only need about 340hp and a light car to pull your wheels off the ground.
You are going to want a high gear. probably 4.10s, and some really sticky tires. Who cares if a street bike can do a wheelie. Why don't you do one on your little Razor Scooter and show him up...

Yeah you don't need 600HP to lift the front tires off the ground. Just some real sticky tires and some gears. I've seen it done on a nearly stock 5.0 LX (carb conversion + cam). But the guy was a nut and used some real wide slicks and dumped the clutch at 5,000rpm or more.

Besides what fool compares a racer style bike to a freaking car? And to use the "wheelie" in an argument? WTF! Tell him you won't be sucked in by a semi-truck on the highway!

I was about to say...600HP!? Ummmm no. My friend used to pull the drivers side about 3 inches with an e-cam, pro-m, exhaust, flowmasters, and 3.73s. On quick time pros BTW... It wasnt the power, he had a drag kit suspension.....Not sure, but I think it was drag struts, springs, and an air bag. Nothing fancy.

All it takes is a set of slicks and dumping the clutch at 5,500rpms. I'd start thinking into putting some 31spline axles and a good posi... o and also a new transmission while your at it!! Unless all of this stuff is already done??!? I pull the front wheels off the ground (1.56 60') with my 85' gt with about 300rwhp (also an automatic which I launch from idle). So I think its very possible with a stick!!

I agree with 00RedSS and part of what Boss351, being the owner of both (1990 5.0 LX & a 02 GSXR 750) theres no comparison. Not even close! If you want to compete with your boys streetbike, YOU need a streetbike. If you want to get your front end off the ground afew inches, from what ive seen first hand, you should be able to do it with gears, bolt ons and slicks even with a stock suspension. Speaking of bolt ons, you didnt include what you have on you car? Fill us in...while we wait for your response i think i'll take my bike out for a cruise...and try not to get suck in by a semi. oh, i like the razor scooted idea too LOL.

my 84 gets off the ground about a foot with street tires (daytona SR's 235/60r15) ive also had an 8.8 put in from a 92 gt with STOCK gears(which you should already have that rear end) ive got competiton engineering drag shocks on the rear and i have the slightest clue of whats on the front i just know the fronts are old. im pushing about 450hp give or take and the car itself is fairly light 2700lbs. its also got a sub frame on it dont know if that helps or not never drove the car without it. i didnt build much of this car so i dont really know exactly what all it has i just inherited it unwillingly when my old man passed away ive noticed the motor has been pushed back about 6 inches too so thats got to help with the weight in the front and a t-5 tranny thats about all thats getting me up. good luck gettin your stangs front in the air.

It depends what you mean pop a wheelie. You dont need 600 hp...

My dads 1991 LX with 284 rwhp pulls the front tires a bit. The suspension is well suited for drag racing (I wont list all the mods, but save for a stock K-member, and A-arms, pretty much everything is aftermarket), and the car is decently light up front, but it still pulls the tires with ease. Its harder on the street, and probably not something desired (with other people around and the dangers that exist) but definately possible.

My buddy with a GSXR 600 is trying to get his bike as fast as my Falcon. Stock in the 1/8 it went 7.67@99 and my Falcon goes 7.32@93. He did some stuff to his bike and wanted to race talkin all this crap so I hooked up the spray. He went 7.00@101. and I went 6.14@114. He s*** his pants. I had to do it to him. He's my best friend. The reason why I had to do it to him because. He also has a Stock 90 Hatch LX with MAC Longtubes headers, pro dump, and pro chamber and one night we went to race because he wanted to. The drive to a back road was kinda far. I notice a lot of smoke so I popped the hood and saw It calling from the breather. I was like crap that's a lot of blow by, But raced him anyway. I got him by half a car with a half my pony's. Well, the next morning. I did a leak down test and compression test. Two cylinder where way down caused by broken rings. The leak down test showed a couple bent valve. You could hear the air going threw the valve like they were wide open. Well, anyway he was telling everyone the he whooped me. I said whatever. So when invited everyone the track to see him race me in my Falcon. I had to put it to him. Sorry for the long post.
