Texas State Fair Mustangs: Is that pleather?

Ford has three 2005 Mustangs at the Texas State Fair. Two of them were locked and in pedestals. The one that was unlocked was gray or silver with a red interior. It did not have a cloth interior. That was clear. What was less clear was whether the "leather" interior was really leather or was it pleather?

My hope is that these was a pre-production model with some cheap leather. The production model, I hope, will come with some real and nice leather. I recently sat in a 2003 Mustang GT with leather seats, and it felt like real leather!

If you've been to the fair or have seen this Mustang in tour, please explain. If you have a 2005 GT with leather, please give me your opinion of the leather.

I would be VERY surprised if it was fake leather. One place where ford spent some money was in the interior. I'm sure I read somewhere that they "doubled the interior spending." When I saw the car at detroit, it looked good enough to me, and all the pics look pretty convincing as well.

I was at the fair and thought that the red interior appeared faded but not fake, just my opinion. That was a production vehicle (you can tell by the shifter).

Just wondering, did ya happen to get any pics of the black one that was inside? My film didnt turn out.

thanks

Maybe it needed a good case of saddle soap. It did not feel good. :(

Yes. This is what I have.

The current gen Mustang "leather" interior is actually vinyl with leather inserts on the seating areas. I suspect the new one will be the same.

Note in the brochures and order sheets it doesn't say "leather interior" or "full leather interior," it says something like "premium interior with leather seating surfaces."

It's still nice, I liked my 2001 GT's interior...the vinyl matches the leather very closely, so you have to be looking to tell it's not all leather.

So the grey one that's outside that is unlocked, is it available to sit in? Was it a manual or auto? I've lived in Dallas for 14 years and never been to the fair, but if I can sit in and test fit an '05 with a manual, I may have to break down and venture out into the crowds. Thanks.
