So I just filled up and was on my way home i took off like normal...shifting prettry hard and fast frist and second where like normal then i hit third and it poped and maked a bunch of cluncking nosies till i stoped...and i was stuck in the middle of the road so i had to force it into 2nd and get to a parking lot...about 100ft....and it was making the most god awful noises...so since i need my car fast i am stuck putting a stock rebuilt becuase the shop wont even put a stock cobra tranny into because of emmisions or some crap....ugg any ideas on other options?

They won't put anything but a stock tranny for emission purposes? I think I would look for another shop and see about a G-Force T5 tranny ( I think that's is the name) and from what I have read they will hold 700 to 800 horses.

My motto is make it as strong as possible then see if anybody can make it stronger.

yes i think that your shop is full of crap...there are only 2 sensors that plug into your tranny...one is your speedo gear sensor thing, and the other one turns on your reverse lights when your car is in reverse. i really dont think your tranny has anything to do with emmissions.
find a new shop, or you can always DIY...it is more fun that way. :nice:

Unless Gforce has got a customer service policy stay away from them you will wait an eternity for your kit I waited so long I cancelled my order. and like the other guys have said a tranny has zero to do with emissions. look into a tremec 500-600 tranny.

Why take it to a shop? Change it yourself. It's pretty simple, actually. Drop the exhaust, drop the drive shaft, drop the tranny, bolt on the new one. You don't need a shop to do, a hydraulic floor jack, a buddy, and some hand tools would do the job.

Yea easy to replace tranny. Do it yourself if you can. As for the G-force tranny...it's the cheapest non stock tranny you can get/build. I got my new gearset and tranny rebuild kit form them in 3 days along with a spce 26 spline clutch disc, but I live in chicago. Your on the other coast....I had a rebuild shop lined up to do my build and I dropped it off and picked it up the next day. All in all, I had my tranny out and in in a week. That probably a rush for you depending on how busy you are so lets say two weeks for you. Oh and it all cost me 1450 bux. 1100 for gearset and rebuild kit, 110 for 26 spline disc, 250 for the rebuild labor. All this includes shipping and taxes. If you can wait its not a bad deal.

well i am at college and my car was 30miles from my apartment when it broke...and the nearest shop was them...if it was at all drivable i would take it some where else but the only gear that almost works is 2nd....so looks like i am putting in a stock replacement for now then will save up for a g-force...i like the idea of a near stock weight transmission vs the heavier tremec.

I was expecting it to blow up after i put the turbo it but it didn't make it that far

my tranny is messed up bad too... second is useless, wont even go in, just pops back out, and first is starting to do it too... 3-5+R are fine though, but would you guys suggest a rebulid or a new tranny... whats a rebuild at a shop usually run? i know how much new trannys are, and i can put it in myself, but if i can get a rebulid kit and have a shop do it for cheaper ill go that route. Thanks guys
