What Happened?

 today I was going to school when everybody slammed on the krampers when I was looking away. When I turned back I was coming up on them pretty quick, so I get on the binders and start down shifting like mad dog. The thing is when I down shifted and let the clutch out, the brake pedal pulsated for a second or two like the abs was kicking in. Now the brakes in this car are much better than my GT was, but they aren't that great. What do yall think happened? Is it possible I slid one of the front tires for a split second?
ps - this isnt the first time it has happened, more like the second or third; and if it helps, I didnt disengage the traction control(trying to save the tires a little).

That's happened to me a few times as well. So is the ABS engaging to prevent the tires from barking while downshifting quickly?

Holy cow... The ABS engages anytime it senses a wheel about to lock up. When the rotation speed of the wheel nears 0mph and a very quick rate, the ABS will activate to prevent lock up....

Man, you really need a little more knowledge before driving something like an 94 Cobra. Your going to kill yourself....

I guess I just didn't know that much about ABS. I thought it only activated when you actually use the brakes.

I haven't really been doing anything crazy with my car yet--still getting used to it...

seems like the computer is over reacting. I only want abs if the road is wet or sandy, not when im coming to a stop. I recall it doing this one time when I was turnig in my drive way too. Lock-up at a mere 5mph? what ever. guess ill just have to take it easy and live with it.
