New Modder...need some help!

Hey guys this is my first post. As of monday, I am the new owner of an 04 Cobra Coupe. Now i have heard from some people that with minor mods this thing will lay down about 410-420 rwhp, is this correct? The guy at the dealer told me just like a chip, a pulley, and exhaust. but that seems like very few mods to be putting down probably 40 or 50 whp over stock, i tried the search thing but couldnt figure out what to search for. so any help would be nice. thanks

DO NOT PUT A CHIP/PULLEY IN IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO SAY BYE-BYE TO THE WARRANTY!!!

My first suggestion would be to read the Cobra FAQ located here: Click Me! It will answer 99% of most all the new owners questions.

410-420 RWHP can be had without changing pulleys or using an aftermarket "chip". A good CAI and just a cat-back will get you to 400.

P.S. Congrats on the new Terminator! You're going to love it!!

Yeah, the MM full length SFC's are great, specially for a 'vert! :nice:
You won't believe the difference!

And as for you Mr. WHAT-WAS-THAT... since the warranty is not an issue I suggest a CAI, CB, 2.93 upper pulley, and a tune (either chip or hand held unit). That will get you to about 450! These cars respond very well to mods. The intake and exhaust are really choked down from the factory. The stock tune is pretty rich too. So just opening her up on both ends, upping her boost by a couple of pounds, and placing a good tune on her results in some serious HP gains over stock.

Yep, HP comes pretty easy with these cars up to about 450 before it starts getting more expensive and more work. Check out http://DynoPerformance.com and do some searches. I'm running around 440 with only a 3.2 pulley and a couple other bolt-ons. Overall have only spent a little over $1000 on mods.

There are also some very good non-power mods that really up the enjoyment factor. UM already mentioned sub-frames that sound worthwhile, and I think replacing the factory shifter is a must.

Good Luck!

SFC's make that much of a difference........glad I made the move! I have @ 11 months and then I may take the plunge...pulley swap....unless I extend the warranty...what to do, what to do!!!

On a 'vert weld-in SFC's are a must. The factory ones are barely adequate. I installed the standard size SFC's on my coupe just to tie the two halves together and firm up the chassis.

yeah i almost never get a warranty anymore, those things dont last long for me LOL!

headers+midpipe+catback=ricer death
a KB blower=instant death for ricers

these cars seem to respond very well to mods. note, there is a difference between beating a ricer and killing one too :) thats why i said "Ricer death". im sure u can blow em away stock anyways LOL!
