I hate deer. I figure they will total it out. I have my eye on a couple of other mustangs already. I am buying this back one way or another. I will pull my motor and transmission. I will part the rest of it out. I feel like I have been in an explosion with the pain I am in, my back cracked like pair of knuckles. What a ride, I dont remember much. I know I missed the deer though. What would you have done, hit it or swerved like me. REMEMBER though many people have died from deer entering through the glass and killing them. I heard of a girl who was kicked from the deer trying to escape and was in a coma. Lets see the results.

I pry would have swerved out of the way. I think you made the right choice.

Surprisingly though your car looks like it could be repaired. Only thing I'd worry about would be the airbags.

Glad you're ok man, a stang can be replaced, you can't.

Yea dont worry about the airbags got both of mine replaced in my wreck. Just glad no one was seriously injured. Me, well I would have hit it just not head on if possible. I've seen a deer get clobbered by an 18-wheeler that was in the opposite lane of me on a two lance road. Ya never know what those deer are gonna do.

The airbags did go off, but the dash on the passenger side was cracked and split all the way down along the front and even into the glove box from the force of the bag coming out. I was around 50MPH when it happend. The dash will have to be replaced, completly. What a mess that would be. Everything but the trunk lid, spoiler, and rear bumper cover is not dented or anything. The body man told be that the frame shifted up front up and to the left. The battery and power steering lines is laying over into the belt so it cant be started. It happened so fast that I didnt really have a chance to think, just a natural reaction.

I would go hunting, but thats just me :D

Those damn deers can do some real damage. I probably would've swerved as a reflex. Sorry about your car. If it's of any consolation my dad already killed one this year, along with a baer and a moose :) Got those on bow season. He's going back again on fire arm season for another deer.

I used to come across deer all the time, but I think after the exhaust mods they hear me coming. They say you should never swerve, but its pretty hard not to sometimes.

Fighting the urge to swerve is hard, that's for sure. Every once in a while I find a lonely place on the road to test my brakes and remind me how fast they can stop the car :). Just the other day I did it in my Cobra, and even though it was pouring rain I couldn't keep my head upright, it stopped so fast... And then later in the same day I got to test the brake theory in real life when some jackass tried to run me off the road. :nonono:.

Glad to hear you're okay, the old cliche is so true -- the car can be replaced but you cannot!

First of all, sorry about the car, glad youre alright =\
Insurance people will tell you you're never supposed to swerve, though as stated its hard to do.. especially in such a small car.. and yeah I usually underestimate my brakes until I really need to depend on em.. theyre not so bad, even stock

I would have gutted that *itch out and ate him/her - got that satisfaction anyway. Marinated in Italian dressing and grilled, venison is excellent!

Glad your OK, those babies can come through the window and kill you.

depending on what type of road it was on (if there ware trees, a ditch, houses ect i would have hit the deer. plain road w/nothing on the sides besides some grass/small bushes i woulda swerved)

look how durable the 3rd brake light is, not even cracked it doesn't look like. j/k, glad to hear you are alright, i say start looking for something else and build it up using all the usuable parts from this one.

depending on roadside conditions, i would have done the same thing. I always try make sure i hit stuff. like if a squirel shoots out, i don't try to swerve to miss it. i just keep going. Kinda a drill for if a deer ever does happen.
