supercharger question

KB blowers are designed to work with our stock internals if you stay within the 6-9psi range. No need to do anything else. Same with centrifugal chargers, if you stay around 8psi and are not putting out more than 400+ rwhp you should be fine. Do some research on the different types of chargers available. There's alot of good info on the net and on this forum. Try the power adder stangnet forum, there's some good information in there...

Well first off you have to ask yourself what you want. Instead of basing your decision on everyone else's opinion, go get some of their brochures and do some research. I myself would never touch a Kenne Bell. I have my own reasons why.

I stick with a ATI Procharger.

so if i go max out a credit card and decide to buy a supercharger which one should i get and what else should i expect to have to buy to support it on my stock o4 gt

All of these suggestions are useless if we don't know your credit limit

If you have a high limit (20k) go with KB and forged shortblock including TKO 600 tranny.

Ahh the age old stangnet question. If you see ALOT of track time, the centrifugal (vortech,ATI,Paxton) is for you. If you only go to the track once in a blue moon, and want to do some SERIOUS tire roasting on the street, then no other choice but KB!! I loved my KB'ed GT, but wanted ALOT more power then the stock block could handle, so I upgraded to the 04 Cobra. No regrets except I wish I had the $$ to keep my GT also.........the KB is the perfect street blower. Its all up to you and what you are looking for. The KB is a bit more expensive, but is probably THE BEST complete kit on the market.
Good luck! :flag:

Mogs- Would you please go a bit more into why you dont like KB? I am on the fence about boost but if I did get a SC I am leaning toward the KB and would like to know what your experience was. Thanks- Kevin

well he's got 4:10 gears, triax shifter, catback exhaust and a couple other things and runs an 8.20 1/8 mile
I'll assume that he's running drag radials with that as well. That's pretty quick for those mods. You could always consider nitrous oxide. If it's just to beat your buddy, then it would be the cheapest route.

Many people will suggest what they like or have been stuck with. There are many "seasoned veterans" on these forums--I am not one of them.

What I am is an engineer and do understand the mechanics of the supercharger. My suggestion to you would be to research the difference between the centrifugal (Vortec, ATI) and the roots-type--positive displacement or Lysholm twin-screw (Kenne Bell, Saleen).

The 2 different types have, typically, two different applications. A centrifugal SC will net more HP's but do you understand the relation between Horsepower and Torque? A roots-style will offer more instant torque but has its limitations as well--heat is often a problem.

As far as drivability goes think about the SC production Mustangs i.e., Cobra, Roush and Saleen.

well he does run drag radials, but i am for sure getting 4:10 gears the only thing, wont nitrous really hurt my car
No, not if you stay with a reasonable shot (under 150) and your fuel system is up to snuff. Most kit's sold now adays are idiot proof. Best bang for the buck. :nice:

I'd drop that much money on my car payment before i'd max out a credit card.. I'd love to have a KB soopercharger. However, i dont see it being a financially sound choice considering that i do not even own my 2003 GT.. Just my 2 cents..
